In November, fans will finally be able to get their hands on the much anticipated follow-up to last decade's fan-favourite
Star Wars: Battlefront, a series of Third-Person Shooter games set in the
Star Wars universe. The game will be developed by
DICE Studios, and published by
Electronic Arts, which most commonly reffered to as
EA. And now, courtesy of the
official Star Wars Battlefront website, we can confirm that there is a beta headed to
Playstation 4 systems in early October.
Mathew Everett, the community manager for
Star Wars battlefront, has officially revealed that there is a beta heading to
Playstation 4,
Xbox One,
and
PC users sometime in early October. He outlined what would be included in the "technical test" for the game, and, according to the post, this is what beta participants will be able to try out:
-
Walker Assault on Hoth, a 40 Player Rebel vs Empire map. The map will also allow testers to play as two of the most recognisable characters in the Star Wars canon, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.
-
The Tatooine Survival map, in which two players control members of the Rebels, and must fight back against gradually overpowering waves of Imperial Forces.
-
A previously unrevealed game mode called Drop Zone. More on this game mode will be revealed in the coming weeks.
-
Access to the new Battlefront Companion, an app available on the official Battlefront Site for the duration of the beta (it will be available for iOS and Android as of November 17), that will give users access to Star Wars Base Command, a strategic card game that earns the player in-game credits to unlock weapons, star cards and more in the main game. In addition to this, users will be able to check stats and progression, customise loadouts, customise appearance, and connect to friends (including the ability to receive notifications whenever your friends get online and start playing the game).
While no specific date has been revealed, nor any information regarding on how fans will be able to sign up for the beta test,
Everett said more information will come in "the weeks ahead", so be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for information pertaining to the event.
