Disney has announced a series new animated shorts set in the galaxy far, far away called Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures, which will debut tomorrow on the all-new StarWarsKids.com and the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel.

The shorts are being developed to introduce the classic themes, pivotal moments, and iconic characters from the Star Wars saga to a younger generation of fans, and will feature "fun and educational add-ons designed to help older fans, parents, and other mentors to welcome the kids in their lives to explore the galaxy far, far away."

Here's what Lucasfilm’s vice president for franchise content and strategy James Waugh had to say about the series to StarWars.com.

“With Galaxy of Adventures, we wanted to craft something that allowed parents to help their kids take their first step into a much larger world whether they were ready to show their kids the films or wanted to find new ways to explore the content.”

Check out the teaser and poster below, and let us know if you'll be checking out Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures with the little 'uns.

Well...shit...I gotta say this idea isn't half bad honestly. I like it. Might have my son watch it when it premieres.

@AyMan - Granted, “it could be worse” is not a a good way to gauge things. But at least the animation is moving fast and furious.

@SanFranLand - No, honestly, I do find it good. Star Wars, yeah, is already made with the intention of children watching but I do find it interesting with this route. Yeah we have the old movies, but for an 8 year old, would watching a movie from 1970's excite you, or this that would typically tell you the whole story in several 15 minute episodes with high-octane animation?

I mean we live in a generation where kids would rather watch grown ass men and women play video games, rather than play the game...to be fair too games are expensive so that's the best they will damn well get too!

"I want the old Luke and characters"
"Well, here they are"
"I hate it!"

-every SW "fan" ever.

This looks awesome, and it looks like Disney actually put some effort in the animation this time, very anime-like.

No, I am a Star Wars fan from back in 77 and I really am looking forward to this. Of course I am different than most Star Wars fans.

Its a clever idea using the highlights from the OT as a showreel to create new interpretations with high energy manga style. Some of the new Mickey Mouse cartoons that disney does have outstanding animation and this looks very similar in quality. This is a great investment for Disney, because it emphasizes what makes star wars so cool and its a cheap way to market the brand. I'm glad their spending money on traditional animation because their 3d Resistance show looks like total arse.

Huh, this looks pretty cool actually. Good way to introduce the best of SW to a young generation.

And did anyone else notice the one prequel shot of Yoda and Dooku? That's interesting.

So now your kids need guidance to enter the world of Star Wars. I don't recall needing guidance to enjoy Star Wars.

The suits at Lucas film and KK trying to milk this udder dry. Be careful suits, you might as well infect this franchise, oh wait, you have already done that!

@fundamentallyOT - kids can experience the OT SW for the first time however the hell they like, you gatekeeping a**hole.

Also WTF is the deal with constantly trying to kiddify the series? Do they not know the original trilogy was ALREADY FOR LITTLE KIDS???!!?!?!

I watched the trilogy for the first time when I was 8 years old, loved it, and I certainly didn't need cartoons to dumb it down and talk down to me.

@MrDandy - oh look, another gatekeeping grown ass man keeping little kids from enjoying things marketed to them.

@Spidey91 - Oh look, another apologist who doesn't know four quadrant marketing is a thing and that targeted a show outside its demographic and pre-established fandom is tone deaf and usually doesn't work as you're isolating a large group that would tune in.

Am I doing this trolling right?

And why does Leia look angry? Leadership and command are not signs of anger!

Maybe Ruin Head Johnson was in charge of the drawing. He didn't even know how to portray Jake Skywalker or Emo Kylo. And Chewie doesn't look like him at all!

They treat their still none existent audience for this show like dumb kids!

I'll be honest, as selfish and stupid as I'm about to sound saying this, I'm kinda tired of all the new Star Wars related media being so exclusively marketed for kids. Now don't get me wrong, I strongly support making kid friendly material out of properties I love like Star Wars and Comics and so on... so long as they dont forget about us adults who also love and helped build the fan base from the start who desire more adult themed content. I miss having a mature and seriously toned animated Star Wars show, I miss having brutal and violent and dramatic Star Wars movies. I get the whole deal with kids buy toys and all the merch and what not (actually the parents buy their kids that stuff) but still... our generations fandom collectively put Star Wars on the map and lifted it up to become the multi billion dollar franchise it is today, yet I cant help but feel the house of mouse could give a [frick] about giving us what we've been dying for. Idk... like I said, selfish and stupid.

@ArthurFleck - Sorry to break it to you but KK has stated she doesn't care about the fans of the OT. All she cares is her political agenda and SJWs.

AyMan
AyMan - 11/29/2018, 11:56 AM
@ArthurFleck - ???

What "brutal and violent and dramatic Star Wars movies" are you watching? Also, what was the most "mature and seriously toned Star Wars show", you mean Clone Wars?
ArthurFleck
ArthurFleck - 11/29/2018, 12:16 PM
@AyMan - well between Luke's aunt and uncle being burned alive and their husks being left for him to find, limbs being lobbed off in nearly every movie, an entire squad of clone troopers mercing jedi, Anakin being hacked to bits and burned by lava before our very eyes, dudes getting cut in half, impaled and cut down, even decapitated, epic and expertly choreographed fight sequences... the OT and most of the Prequel trilogy were pretty dark in tone and delt with espionage, politics and decidedly dark and adult themes. Yeah they had a few kid friendly things peppered throughout, but you are going to have a hard time convincing me Star Wars didnt start out mature and serious in tone, complete with some iconic battles and dramatic twists and turns.

You will have an equally difficult time convincing me the tone of The Clone Wars isnt a far off departure from the tone of Star Wars Resistance. They are tonally and thematically as different as night and day.

While I do feel BOTH tones have its place in the Star Wars universe, my point was that one tone is getting far more attention than the other, again, an assessment you will have great difficulty convincing me otherwise.
AyMan
AyMan - 11/29/2018, 12:27 PM
@ArthurFleck - Yes but what your speaking of is so much more detail than what the films put out. Even after I watch the film, do you really believe pointing that out when you first saw Star Wars at a young age, or did that take years and years of possible re-watches to come to that conclusion.

Yeah ARMS LOBB OFF! Do we get the blood squirting mess, the gory features that follow when an arm, leg, hand, feet all get lobbed off? No. You are stating something of tone that isn't really necessarily that strong with audiences.

Sure those movies have it, but they still passed a PG rating. Even after the MPAA. I mean they sliced off Darth Maul in half, killed and cremated him...in a PG film. While it may have dark elements, your statement made it seem like these dark elements are what made Star Wars so damn great. When you think of Star Wars, it's not the heavy, brutal violence" it is remembered for, it's the story, characters, the dialogue, the big epic explosion from the Death Star, Darth Vadar, X-Wings. Not the "brutal beating of Anakin as he is hacked to bits and burned alive in near a river of flowing lava" like why the hell would that make me think of Star Wars at the top of my head?

I don't watch Resistance, I did watch Clone Wars and that was pretty good...despite being out of order in story.

Again, Star Wars is a FRANCHISE, meaning you are going to get stuff aimed for kids eventually. I mean [frick]...Terminator 2 did it! That doesn't mean every bit of Star Wars to come out SHOULD be catered to ONLY die hard fans. That is just ridiculous. It needs to transition, transform, evolve. It doesn't have to always be the same.

I like it this show. It's for KIDS, it isn't for me. They flat out tell you it's for KIDS. Why the hell would I get mad at that for giving an animated show about Star Wars...for kids??? Like wtf?
ArthurFleck
ArthurFleck - 11/29/2018, 12:41 PM
@AyMan - I'm not about to go bit for bit and systematically point out how everything you are saying about what I said is either your own spin on what I said or completely contrary to what I said, I dont have the time nor the desire to do so. So I'll quickly restate my opinion and you can interpret it however you like.

The Star Wars I grew up with has a far more mature and serious TONE than the content we are getting these days. There is a large amount of kid friendly content and not so much the mature content which I watched and read growing up and later saw with the Clone Wars. (Heres the key part you are wilfully or inadvertently not paying attention to, so I'll put it in all caps so perhaps it stinks in for the 3rd time) WHILE I FEEL BOTH TONES HAVE A PLACE IN THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE, ONE TONE IS GETTING FAR MORE ATTENTION THAN THE OTHER, AND AS A STAR WARS FAN IM SIMPLY VOICING MY OPINION THAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE OF THE MATURE THEMES WHICH INTRODUCED ME TO THIS GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY.

Now, twist that however you like. Understand me or don't. Agree or disagree, I really dont mind.

But I'm done with this debate or argument or whatever this is you are attempting to provoke. I'm not on here for this kind of discussion. If this has all been a misunderstanding or not, I wish you a good day sir.

But I'm walking away from this now.

Have artists lost their creativity. The fact that it is headed to children, doesn't mean the quality of the animation has to be bad, star-wars Resistance comes to mind!

Give people average products but maximise profits. Buy cheap, pay dear!
