James Cameron & Tim Miller's TERMINATOR Sequel Moves Back Four Months To November 2019
Paramount has just announced that Tim Miller's upcoming Terminator sequel, which has James Cameron involved for the first time since 1991, has been moved back four months from Summer to Fall 2019.
After being initially slated for July 26, 2019, Paramount and Skydance have officially decided to push back their upcoming Terminator sequel four months to November 22, 2019.
A reason for the delay wasn't provided, but the studios have insisted that the delay had nothing to do with 70-year-old star Arnold Schwarzenegger's recent open-heart surgery. If that's the case, then we can likely attribute the delay to possibly needing extra time to further develop the script and/or to finalize the cast.
Tim Miller (Deadpool) is set to direct with James Cameron (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) returning to the franchise as a producer, making it the first Terminator film in over twenty-five years that Cameron has been directly involved in developing.
T2 stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton will both reprise their iconic roles as the T-800 and Sarah Connor, respectively. This will be the first time the pair has worked with Cameron since 1991 when they set the box office ablaze with one of the biggest sci-fi blockbusters of our generation. As for the newcomers, only Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049) has joined the cast so far, reportedly as one of the new faces of the franchise.
The tentatively titled, Untitled Terminator Project, now moves from an extremely action-heavy July that will see the release of Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel (July 5), Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick (July 12), Disney's The Lion King (July 19), and Universal's Hobbs & Shaw (July 26) to a slightly less crowded November that will feature the releases of Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman 2 (Nov. 1), MGM's Bond 25 (Nov. 8), and Disney's Frozen 2 (Nov. 27).
