Warner Bros. Sets July 2020 Release Date For Christopher Nolan's Next Directorial Venture

Warner Bros. has officially announced Christopher Nolan's next directorial venture and while they are staying tight-lipped with any details on the title, cast, or plot, they have slated the mystery project for a prime July 17, 2020 release date, where it will also open in IMAX.

Outside of the release date, all that's currently known is that Nolan also penned the script and that Warner Bros. is understandably billing it as one of the biggest releases on their 2020 slate, as it's currently listed on their schedule as the Untitled Christopher Nolan Event Film.

While plot and casting details are being kept under wraps, cameras are expected to roll this year, so we should hear something within the next few months, if not sooner.

The mystery film will open opposite Paramount's The SpongeBob Movie: It's a Wonderful Sponge, 20th Century Fox's Bob's Burgers, and an Untitled Universal Pictures Event Film. It will also open one week after an Untitled Sony/Marvel Film and one week before Disney's Jungle Cruise, which stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. The summer will also see the releases of a number of hotly-awaited sequels, including Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 1984 (June 5), Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick (June 26), and Universal's Minions 2 (July 3).

The 5x Academy Award-nominated Nolan is best known to comic book movie fans for his impeccable work on The Dark Knight Trilogy and his past credits also include, but are not limited to, Memento, Insomnia, The Prestige, Inception, Interstellar, and most recently, Dunkirk.

Nolan is brilliant. To date the only film he's made I haven't really been big on is Intersteller (but even that one I have a lot of respect for aspects). So I'm excited as ever for this.

@MrDandy - I didn't care for Interstellar or TDKR. Still haven't seen Dunkirk. I've reached a point with him where I don't necessarily get excited, but I keep an eye on his projects.
