Producer Jon Landau, who also worked with Cameron on "Titanic," told French magazine Le Film that the world of Avatar is big enough that it should be explored further in subsequent films. He says Avatar only deals with the surface of the planet Pandora, and that a sequel could venture deeper into the interior.

Cameron has been building the Pandora universe for the better part of ten years so it’s no surprise that the notion of exploring it further is being tossed around. A sequel would depend on the success of the first film, but with all the hype surrounding new technology combined with Cameron’s veil of secrecy, interest is already too high for a flop.

Sequel’s however, can wait. MTV Movies Blog reports that Cameron’s next project may be Yukito Kishiro's Battle Angel Alita. The story of Alita, a cyborg suffering from amnesia, who uses martial arts to discover her past, has sparked the Titanic director’s interest. Landau has also stated that Cameron is looking at BAA as his next film.

Manga fans rejoice.
