Over the next decade, general audiences will be seeing new Avatar films every other year starting in 2021 right up until 2027. This is no doubt a huge undertaking for director James Cameron, who has already been developing the next installments even before the original's 2009 release. Along for the ride during the next few years of production is Legion's Jermaine Clement, an eccentric talent who will be sure to make his signature mark on the franchise.

Announced via Twitter, the property's official account announced the inclusion of the star, as well as his character's name. Clement is known most recently as the showrunner of FX's What We Do in the Shadows, and a frequent collaborator of Taika Waititi's.

Regarding the announcement, James Cameron tweeted:

Are you excited to see Jermaine Clement in the Avatar sequels?

I'm not going to lie, I'm not excited in the least bit about these movies, but James Cameron has always been an innovator in some way. I'm wondering if these films are a little too late but we shall see

I don't see the sequel making anywhere near what the first movie made. Hes going against Sherlock Holmes 3 and Hotel Transylvania 4 and something tells me these movies are definitely gonna hurt it.

@Kevwebsz - The movie will make at least a $billion.

@Kevwebsz - considering his last 2 movies crossed 2 billion without being established ips, i could definitely see the first sequel crossing 2 billion. Especially since this is using new technology. Probably not as much as the first, though that depends on quality. The other sequels might not cross 2 billion but will definitely make 1 each.
