Charlie Hunnam Cast in 50 Shades Of Grey, Could This Have An Affect On Pacific Rim?
Charlie Hunnam of Pacific Rim has been casted in the upcoming adaptation of 50 Shades Of Grey. Could this have an affect on Pacific Rim's future?
Earlier today E.L. James tweeted that Charlie Hunnam would be taking on the role of Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of 50 Shades Of Grey alongside Dakota Johnson.
While Stephen Amell (Arrow) and even Robert Pattinson (Twilight) were reportedly on the radar to play Christian Grey, the role has went to Hunnam, who while making a name for himself on Sons Of Anarchy became a fan favorite in this summers cult-hit Pacific Rim.
But what could this do to the future of Pacific Rim? While a sequel didn't seem possible with its disappointing US open, fortunately the film is showing promise in the worldwide box office meaning a sequel could most definitely be talked about.
The 50 Shades series having sold over 70 million copies has a rather large audience and having the their fans curious about the new lead, we can be sure that many of them will be checking out Pacific Rim between now and the movie's release. While we can't expect much of an affect on the box office total for the film, having Hunnam gain a larger fan base as Christian Grey could be a good thing for the chances of a sequel.
Having the male lead turn into star AFTER the film could bring a larger audience into a sequel. The chances may be slim but it's definitely something worth discussing.
Let me know on twitter @thejoshl what you guys think about Hunnam's casting, and the affect it could have on Pacific Rim as a franchise.
