I want like crazy for this to be a solid film but have some concerns . I remember when Independence day was released and based off the trailers for that I did not expect to hate that movie as much as I did . Like that Movie PR is going to rely heavily on the CGI being perfect . It has the potential to be one of the most epic films we have ever scene in regards to scale and size and if they do it right godzilla might as well throw in the towel . However bad CGI in even small increments can take anyone out of a film . I only bring up Independence Day for I believe it to be a prime example of how CGI can take you out of a film , specifically the dog dodging the fire in the tunnel . That small moment early in the film smacked me upside the head with a "your watching something fake" bat . In order for PR to be successful there can not be any moments like that , the goal is to take me away and keep me there and I believe if I've been popped back into reality then it's the film makers fault for not paying attention to detail . This may come across as snooty however I just got done paying $42 for MOS , movies are not just something to do when your bored anymore , no one goes unless they really want to see something spectacular . As such we need to demand more from our filmmakers or just stop going . This is just an old mans perspective , thank you for allowing me to waste some of your time .

Old men should know when to use "your", and when it's "you're".

and your assuming all old men finished school

I think my assumption is more about people who publish articles having solid grammar and spelling, or at least editors who do. I'm fighting acceptance that such a thing is impossible these days.

I totally commented on the content. Sorry if it's difficult to trudge through a poorly written article. Communication is a two way street. I never insulted him or insinuated that he's a crossdresser. Which...honestly, I see nothing wrong with if he is.

When someone publishes something for public consumption, they can expect criticisms. If you're going to be upset every time something like that happens, you must REALLY hate all the people attacking celebrities for their looks or intelligence.

@ruadh well anyway thanks for pointing that out I will try to be more mindful of my grammatical error's in the future . I'm surprised you didn't pick up on me forgetting the S at the end of thought since YOU'RE so smart .

knock yourself out brother , in fact go ahead and knock yourself out . BTW these are just jokes I actually do appreciate the input , I have not had to keep grammar in mind for over 10 years and this was a first attempt .

@bagadoosh,

Sincerely, I'm glad you have a sense of humor about it.

@francishates

That's too bad. One should always strive to better themselves, not just as a person, but with knowledge and ability. To hate someone who is capable and knows how to express thoughts well speaks volumes.

@bagadoosh, again,

I actually have really considered contacting the people on this site to see about an editor position. Here's how I'd have done your editorial:

While I have expectations for Pacific Rim to be a solid film, previous experiences have given me pause. Back when Independence Day was released, I was horribly disappointed when the film failed to deliver on promised made by the trailers. That film needed terrific effects to pull itself off, much like Pacific Rim will. If Rim does this right, Godzilla may as well throw in the towel. If it is unable to come through, it can't help but take one out of the film like it did for me with ID4. If you've seen that movie, surely you remember the dog jumping out of the way of the fireball. Even at the time, it stuck out like a sore thumb. The goal of an effects-fest like Pacific Rim is to take me away and keep me there. I believe if I've been popped back into reality then it's the film makers fault for not paying attention to detail. This may come across as snooty however I just paid $42 for Man of Steel, bringing home that movies are not just something to do when you're bored anymore. You go to the theater to see something spectacular. As such, we need to demand more from our filmmakers or just stop going. This is just an old man's perspective, thank you for allowing me to waste some of your time.

@ruadh anyone can contribute to CBM , I think success on this site is made with consistent contributions that generate multiple comments . Good luck and thanks again for your input.

@DioFoRio

I actually think you're right, and that was why I appreciated his sense of humor about it. I was a jerk, and I recognize that.

@bagadoosh,

I think your point about MOS is the one I agree with the most. I have a hard time going to the theater anymore, unless it's a movie I have absolutely no doubt I'll love. Given ticket prices, but also home theater quality these days, it's tough to spring. Especially when it's cheaper to just buy the bluray than take the family to the theater.

Thanks...I was getting the idea that anyone can contribute, but haven't really come up with anything I'm particularly excited about enough to write about.

for real , movies use to be a cheap first date , not anymore .
bagadoosh
bagadoosh - 6/19/2013, 12:09 PM
now my idea of a cheap first date is catching the drunk at the end of the bar when she's feeling just randy enough to take me home

"Glad you said that cause you really were about to be cemented on my hate list."

Thank god I prevented that!

@SteveRogersSon

I wish more youngins could express themselves as well as I do. Sorry man, I'm 36.
