Judy Greer On Going Ape As 'Cornelia' For DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES
Commenting on seeing the (rough) design of her character for the first time, Judy Greer also discusses the motion capture process of playing Cornelia (the love interest of Andy Serkis' Caesar) in the highly anticipated sequel Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.
Speaking with Empire at D23 about her recently announced role in Disney-Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, actress Judy Greer also talks about her role as Cornelia in 20th Century Fox's Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. In the Matt Reeves-directed sequel, she plays the love interest of Caesar (Andy Serkis). Here, Greer (a lifelong fan of the franchise) had nothing but praise to offer after seeing a rough image of her character. "I saw her! Dan Lemmon, who is one of the guys working on the look of the apes, and is the boss of me, he showed me a picture of her. And it was on my first day of actually shooting. I couldn't believe it. It took my breath away seeing her. She's so beautiful and regal and very feminine. I really felt like I was looking at a lady."
She also discusses the process of playing an ape in motion-capture. "Andy Serkis is the master, but Terry Notary is the godfather, so he taught me everything I know. I got there late in the process, so I learned a lot on set from my amazing fellow apes. They were helping me out – when we were waiting around for setups, I'd be, 'can we practice quad walking? Can I get my half-crutches? Is this good?' 'No, keep your butt down!'" In addition to The Good Dinosaur, it was recently reported that Greer is negotiating for a role in Disney's secretive sci-fi project Tomorrowland, which stars George Clooney. Are you looking forward to Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes next summer?
Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPheean and Judy Greer. The film is set to hit theaters July 18th, 2014 in 3D.
