JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM: Jeff Goldblum Sheds Some More Light On His Return As Dr. Ian Malcolm

Fans were thrilled to learn that the Thor: Ragnarok star would be back for the fifth instalment in the Jurassic Park franchise. But according to the actor, his part may not be as substantial as some hoped.

Jeff Goldblum's portrayal of Dr. Ian Malcolm is arguably one of his most beloved performances ever, having appeared in both the original Jurassic Park and its sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

While fans remained hopeful some of the original cast would appear in 2015's Jurassic World, it never materialized, but it looks like Universal was just holding back the goods for the sequel, and it was announced earlier this year that Goldblum will indeed appear in the 2018 sequel Fallen Kingdom. However, it seems as though fans hoping for anything substantial might be disappointed. Speaking on an Empire podcast, Goldblum had this to say about his role in the
sequel:
‘It's small. Who knows, they may cut me out entirely! But if I stay in I'll be a sprig of parsley or a little garnish, hopefully with some impact!’
Based on those comments, it seems as though the actor's role in the film won't be a starring role, yet it could still be significant for the overarching story. Still, most will likely agree that a little of Goldblum’s signature quirkiness is better than no Goldblum at all.

We could even get a glimpse of the eccentric scientist in the first trailer for the film, which is expected to drop later this year with Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

My favorite Jeff Goldblum moment was when a New Zealand news agency falsely reported his death, then he showed up on the Colbert Report and gave his own obituary. 😂🤣😂

He's the best. Small role, like that of Attenborough's in The Lost World is not a bad idea at all.

I can't wait to see where the writers put Dr. Malcolm after all these years! Will his daughter be in it this time??

Darn it. I know he wasn't going to be the main character but he could have at least been to this movie what Han Solo was to The Force Awakens. I didn't like the main characters in the last movie that much. At least with Goldblum he would have probably made the characters more tolerable to sit through if he was there. I just hope they're a little better in this one and I hope we don't see those kids again. But then again every Jurassic Park movie has to have kids in it and there always has to be a divorced parents story.
