JUSTICE LEAGUE Director Zack Snyder Shares New Details On His "Romantic Sci-Fi Film" REBEL MOON

Earlier this year, news broke that Zack Snyder was set to helm a Seven Samurai-inspired sci-fi movie for Netflix called Rebel Moon, and the Justice League director has now shared some new details.

We recently learned that Justice League director Zack Snyder will get to make his Seven Samurai-inspired space movie after all - even though it'll be set in a different galaxy far, far away!

Back in July, it was announced that Snyder's next project for Netflix after Army of Thieves (out tomorrow) would be an epic sci-fi fantasy titled Rebel Moon, which he will also co-write with Army of the Dead scribe Shay Hatten and 300 co-writer Kurt Johnstad.

The plot revolves around "a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy which is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate people dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand."

While speaking to Post-Cred Podcast, the filmmaker compared the movie to the opening Krypton-set scenes from Man of Steel. "The beginning of Man of Steel has pretty big science fiction elements in it, right? Krypton... that's kind of what we're doing in Rebel Moon, but on the biggest steroids that I can give it. Frankly, what I'm really interested [in] with this movie is creating a romantic sci-fi film on a scale that is frankly as big as you can make the movie."

Snyder has often said that if he was given the opportunity to helm a Star Wars movie, he'd pay homage to the great Akira Kurosawa with an epic space adventure, but it looks like he got tired of waiting for Lucasfilm to call! Details are still few and far between, but we're looking forward to finding out more about Rebel Moon before too long.

I thought Army of the Dead was alright but WAY too [frick]ing long. Hopefully he can keep this at a reasonable length.

Who keeps giving this man money?

I liked Watchmen and Man of Steel but he’s got more losses than wins.

@MrDitkovich -

“4 hour reach around” edition of JL was not good in my opinion and BVS DC was still terrible with its Jim Carrey Luther and Cave troll abomination.

Of course it’s subjective but on a critic perspective, regarding screenwriting and directing, both are very subpar.

I’m more excited for this than Planet of the Dead (which I’m interested in but I had some issue with Army). I thought it would have been cool for him to make a Star Wars movie but I’d much rather he do his own thing so the canon isn’t messed up by what I’m sure is going to be something ridiculous in the movie somewhere lol

Dawn Of The Dead is still my favorite ZS movie.
Those running Zombies were intense.

Think I’ll watch it again tonight. 👍🧟‍♂️

Here was hoping for either the religious film he wanted to make or the porn film he wanted to make. But I'm sure we'll get some of the fitting imagery all the same.

@MosquitoFarmer - why not a religious porn film

@dracula - Been saying that since Snyder expressed those as his untapped projects.

Another the story sounds so cool, will end up looking pretty cool, I don't have high expectations. Snyder just really disappoints me in the writing department
