GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS - Rodan Is Unleashed In This Epic New Still From The Sequel

Godzilla will go to war with a number of monsters in the upcoming sequel and now a new look at Rodan has been revealed as director Michael Dougherty sheds some light on what to expect from the beast...

Godzilla returns to the big screen this May with Godzilla: King Of The Monsters but he won't be alone. A number of iconic creatures from Toto's catalogue will appear, including Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Rodan, and a newly released image now puts the spotlight squarely on the latter.

"[Rodan] is a bit of a rogue… you never quite know where his loyalties lie," teases director Michael Dougherty. "Godzilla’s more of a lumbering, plodding presence; it takes him a couple of days to destroy a city like Tokyo. Rodan can level it without even thinking. He’s this massive A-bomb, so there’s a speed and ferocity he brings."

That sounds nothing short of epic and it will be fun seeing these two go to war. We know that Godzilla survives as he'll be squaring off with King Kong in the not too distant future but it will obviously take a lot for him to get through his battles with these three iconic behemoths a little later this year.

Supposedly Luke Evans and Millie Bobby Brown have been cast in the Eternals, according to various (Spanish) sites:

@L0RDbuckethead - damn I wanted Luke for Namor. And yeah, Luke would have to bulk up crazy for Hercules.

@HeavyMetal4Life @knocturnalzen10 - Yeah I kinda wanted him for Namor too. He'll have to hit the gym but I def think will be a good Herc.

Not sure about MBB though, I don't really care for her as Eleven, hoping she's better in Godzilla:KotM.

these images look so epic !!!! i'm so confused on how Kong could stand up to any of these others monsters.... seriously ..... you think they'll do that lighting charge up to get him to win ?

@knocturnalzen10 - I was having some trouble with the idea of how kong could possibly go toe to toe with the likes of G-Man also and than i started thinking about Kong's skill and intelligence. Kong is not just a big dumb kaiju. He's an ape with self-awareness and the ability to reason. He will out maneuver and out strategize Godzilla. Kong can use tools like apes do (as seen in skull island) so maybe Kong electrocutes Godzilla with an extremely high voltage cable or something to get an edge. No kong doesn't have atomic breath or volcanic wings but the boy can fight and strategize. That might be greater than any power the other kaijus have.

@JizzerTron - i thought of that as well but look the scale of this film i don't remember kong looking that big in the one we just got skull island. Kong should definitely out maneuver all of them , but it just feels like he needs to make one wrong read and it's over . zilla hitting with the breath seems like that would be it even if he's blocking :/ ..... but those are just my thoughts on it

@knocturnalzen10 - I agree the size discrepancy is not on Kong's side but again maybe that's going to be an advantage for kong instead of a weakness. Kong being smaller might allow him to be more agile and quicker than Godzilla which might frustrate the hell outta big g. Godzilla possibly has never faced an opponent as smart and as crafty as kong. But make no mistake about it, if big g gets a hold of kong it's probably all over so kong is going to have to stick and move. But don't forget kong faced some pretty tough adversaries in skull island (multiple ones at that) and won. can't count that guy out just because he's not oozing atomic energy. Plus, I heard that he's still growing so perhaps by the time Godzilla vs Kong rolls around he'll have been eating his Wheaties and bulked up a bit.

Rodan must be tens of thousands of feet in the air to be that close to a B2 bomber.
