Pretty much what RetroFit said. I mean, the 09 Star Trek was enjoyable as a dumb, but incredibly slick, well-made, and fun action blockbuster in space...but apart from the name, it's really nothing like what Star Trek should be. You know something's gone wrong when Nolan's Interstellar was more of a Star Trek flick (optimistic, exploration-heavy, pro-science, etc) than either one of JJ Abrams' movies.

Did he really hold that dog, so Pegg could make a joke at the end?

since Elba is in it i might check it out. Also Pegg writing a screenplay ? I'm curious to say at least. Time to forget about that movie they called part 2. I have to say i would need to rewatch ST:ID to get a second opinion but i'm not even slightly eager to do it. Left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Shame because first part of reboot was really good.
Kurtzman and Orci did a really good job. The script was really smart.
But then something happened along the way and they wrote this piece of turd too.
i think Abrams and some of the actors and the studio should be also blamed.
The movie felt like there was no regime on the set whatsoever. Like almost everybody were taking vacation during the shooting.

Nobody likes Star Trek, Star Wars is where it's at. Paramount ain't Disney.

Ahhhh Good ol Star Trek! I love the series but the thing about it is it needs to keep the Sci-Fi fundamentals! Let's not chase Star Wars and get obsessed with what's working for them. Do your thing! I would love to see the theoretical science at it's best!!!
