Great films, ID wasnt as good as the first one, but still miles ahead of the avarage blockbuster

LOL nailbiter!

The first Star Trek was incredible, the 2nd....not so much. And of course, because we've already seen half the movie in Wrath of Khan!

But still, Into Darkness had fantastic acting, great action, but just a terrible, piss-poor story and plot. I completely understand why most Trekkies hate it.

Loved the first Trek, and so wanted to like "Into Darkness" but it was a mess. Great acting and visuals, but story was just sloppy. Here's hoping a new director can turn the third one around.

I hear ya nail. The scenes with the little girl and her family were the only ones with any amount of heart and emotion in the entire film. I didn't hate Into Darkness and I can sort of enjoy watching it to some degree, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a poorly thought out mess.

love both of these films, especially the second. Cumberbatch killed it.

The first ST was awesome. Loved it! Into Darkness was alright though. Bones was funny in that one.

I grew up watching all of the Star Trek shows but, I thought that the original series was shite *dodges a thrown brick*.

When some of the more biased fans called it "the worst Star Trek film ever", I was compelled to agree with Simon Pegg's response to that insult because I said the same thing "Oh, [frick] off!". I say this because I've seen all of the films and I KNOW that there were much worse Star Trek films ("The Voyage Home", "The Final Frontier"). Therefore, I now write that insult off as "overzealous nonsense". I consider "Into Darkness" to be a worthy inheritor to "Wrath of Khan" and that will always be MY opinion, so please don't think that insulting me or my opinion will change this.

I enjoyed both of these films and I loved ST:ID. I'll never understand the level of venom that some fans threw at this film. After some of the more vitriolic comments, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the more beloved actors in this new series opted not to do another one, or took their sweet time before attempting it. This is because they're stuck in a "damned if we do and damned if we don't" scenario. If they attempt to appease the hardcore fans who carry schematics of the Enterprise and annoy Leonard Nimoy on a yearly basis, then they risk losing the general audience. If they attempt to attract the general audience, the more hardcore fans lose their objectivity and turn on the franchise as if it has never given them ANYTHING. If I had to face that kind of capriciousness, then I would consider letting the franchise sit for several years until the fans BEGGED for another one. Or I would make one that was such a departure from the Star Treks that the hardcore fans grew up on, that the resulting film would cause them to fall down dead. I know that sounds extreme but I remember reading some of the garbage that was thrown at the stars of the film and I wouldn't have blamed them for feeling "turned against". I mean, if ONE film could take them from being "beloved" to "villified" by the hardcore fan base (which is considerably smaller than the general audience and is getting smaller by the year), then I would no longer feel any compunction to try and pacify those who seem to not be able to handle any canon that deviates from what they grew up with.
