STAR WARS: Harrison Ford Wouldn't Mind Being Han Solo Once More

STAR WARS: Harrison Ford Wouldn't Mind Being Han Solo Once More

So the possible return of Luke Skywalker isn't ruled out, but what about the hard-boiled Han Solo? Seems like the actor portraying the iconic Millennium Falcon's pilot is open to tackling another film. Hit the jump for more.

Everything is still a bit in the future...a little far far away. After Disney acquired LucasFilm Ltd. the pot of rumores has been boiling like crazy. Previously Mark Hamill decided to share his thoughts on starring once more as the adventurous Luke Skywalker, and even George Lucas himself confirmed that he had a basic idea of how Skywalker could be featured once more. It turns out Hamill isn't the only one interested in possibly reprising his original Star Wars role. EW is now reporting that Harrison Ford might be interested in returning as the charming, and rough pilot, Han Solo, as well. Apparently all three essential cast members (of the original trilogy) are open to the idea of bringing the iconic characters back to the big screen.

“Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he’s upbeat about it, all three of them are,” said one highly placed source, referring to Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher, the trio that made a hyper-speed jump to global fame on May 25, 1977, the opening night for George Lucas’s original Star Wars film.

Nothing is set in stone. We'll just have to see how things develop. Doesn't seem too out of place to bring back a beloved character does it? Ford FTW? Click the link back to EW for the full story.

It's riskier to bring back the old cast. Everyone will be pressured to meet the high expectations, that it will at least be as good as Empire Strikes Back.

It's best to start fresh. I'm personally tired of the Skywalkers.

In the OT, whenever there was a rebel briefing led by some old person, I wondered that his or her story was, and assumed we'd learn more about them in the prequels. Only Mon Mothma got a part in ROTS, and unfortunately she was cut out.

I bet that Luke and company will fill similar secondary roles in the new trilogy -- perhaps being pushed to the forefront for one last hurrah in Episode IX.

Holy cow, I can't believe I just typed Episode IX as a certainty, rather than as a dream! Bring it on!

If Luke and co. are the main characters, they'd have to go the STAR TREK II - VI route, playing up the characters' grappling with their age. Might be fun if done right.

i agree with most: this trilogy cannot achieve its highest potential without including the core 3 in some capacity. i am well aware they cannot be the focus, but they must have a supporting role - something larger than a quick cameo. they must.

and @greengo

what makes you say grif was banned? did i miss something?

@Greengo For who? lol

I would love for Harrison Ford to be in Episodes VII-IX!!! I think we need to see where Luck, Leia, Han, and Chewie all ended up, but I don't necessarily need them to be main characters. Their story ended perfectly in Episode VI, it's time for the next generation of Skywalkers. Bring on Ben!!!
