The late Ray Stevenson plays Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka, and the actor has proven to be one of the best parts of the show thus far. The mysterious dark Jedi is a force to be reckoned with and seems intent on using his relationship with Morgan Elsbeth to tap into some unknown power from another Galaxy.
To access it, he and his apprentice Shin Hati need to help the former Magistrate find Grand Admiral Thrawn. It's an intriguing subplot, though the only real intel we have beyond that is the fact that Huyang identified his lightsaber as having been a member of the Jedi Order prior to Order 66.
Some eagle-eyed fans have now pointed out that Baylan wears an obsidian ring on his finger, a strange move for even a former Jedi. It's also worth noting that it bears a striking resemblance to the ring worn by Supreme Leader Snoke in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
We're definitely not suggesting Skoll is Snoke. At this stage, it's apparent Snoke was likely a failed clone of Emperor Palpatine who the villain used as a puppet from his refuge on Exegol. If anything, it's more likely The Mandalorian will deal with the Supreme Leader's creation seeing as Moff Gideon had a twisted interest in clones!
Instead, this Easter Egg connects the two villains in another very interesting way.
Obsidian has links to the dark side, with various tie-in materials confirming Snoke's ring was made from rock extracted from a Sith shrine beneath Darth Vader's castle on Mustafar. Skoll has confirmed he knew Anakin Skywalker in trailers so chances are he was aware of Vader as well.
Even Vader's armour was partly made from obsidian, and that's because the material is one that can easily be infused with anger and hatred (two well-known traits of the Sith). It can even power a red lightsaber, possibly meaning it's responsible for lighting up Baylan and Shin's orange blades.
It's definitely possible Baylan and Snoke are somehow connected and we can't discount the possibility those rings are one and the same. Unfortunately, it's impossible to say until we learn more about this Ahsoka villain's past and where his story is going.
