Disney Asked Drew Struzan To Work On New STAR WARS Art

In an interview with Fanhattan Blog, legendary artist Drew Struzan (known for creating over 150 movie posters, including Indiana Jones, Back To The Future and Star Wars) talked about his recent poster for the TV series Being Human, which stars Sam Witwer, and trying to stay in retirement. However, when asked if he is working on any big future projects, he revealed that he has been asked by Disney to create new artwork for Star Wars, including perhaps Episode VII. He says that while nothing is set in stone just yet, and despite wanting to stay retired, the prospect of his painting new artwork for one or more of Disney's Star Wars films is still a possibility. "Oh, well, never say never, because…in fact, I got a couple calls already this week on Star Wars from Disney. Oh my god, I’m trying to be retired! You know, I spent 35 years painting Star Wars. I painted Star Wars before most of you were born! But I guess there is always a chance. There’s no intention. But I would love to have a day off every now and again, and I have to work a weekend and all through the night. If the opportunity arises, it will be a real temptation. But it’s going to have to be a real temptation to get me away from my wife and my little grandkids and my family. Away from the green trees and the blue skies for a change instead of just locked in the studio. But, you know, never say never. All things are possible." Disney is targeting a 2015 release for Star Wars: Episode VII, with a new installment in the series to arrive every two to three years.

To me the name Struzan means as much to Star Wars as Skywalker.

Please. Movie posters these days have no class or real artistic value.

Hey, how ya doin, Drew. Ok, look; I'm kinda selfish when it comes to these types of things so, I'mana ask you to go ahead and do that new STAR WARS artwork. Enjoy clear skies and family around that. Ok, thanks.

Would be truly great with John returning as a composer. His music is as much a part of Star Wars, as the original cast.

He's truly masterful but if he's smart he'd stay retired and leave them to this tacked-on mess.

I hope JOHN WILLIAMS is still hopefully alive and kicking. If he´s not available, i would love that Joel McNeely (Young Indiana Jones) would fill his shoes.

No keyboard-y Hans-Zimmer for Star Wars please!

I love his artwork! Even with that said, if he wants to stay retired, let him be.

I don't want Disney "forcing him" into working again. That wouldn't be fair after all the amazing work he has done.

@continuezero Grif has been back. He just changed his name to dickbelt for a bit.
