STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Concept Art Reveals A Lightsaber Battle On Tatooine And More

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker didn't really resonate with fans, but some newly released concept art shows key scenes playing out in different locations, including Tatooine and Coruscant. Check it out...

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker divided fans when it was released this time last year, and it's fair to say the sequel trilogy ended with more of a whimper than a bang.

The few details which have been revealed about Colin Trevorrow's take on Episode IX, Duel of the Fates, have been received with a warmer response, though it's now like Disney and Lucasfilm are planning to release the "Trevorrow Cut" any time soon as he left the project long before cameras started rolling.

Now, some newly revealed concept art shared by Adam Brockbank reveals two alternate scenes from J.J. Abrams' The Rise of Skywalker. The first sees Rey and Kylo Ren battling it out with their lightsabers on Tatooine, seemingly right where Luke Skywalker, Ben Solo's uncle, grew up.

The second shows that key moment with Ren's TIE Fighter and Rey slashing it out of the sky taking place not on Pasaana, but Coruscant instead. Revisiting that planet in the movie would have been great, and it's something Trevorrow actually had planned for the third act of his Episode IX (it was going to be the base of the First Order, with the planet's citizens hiding out in the Jedi Temple).

Take a look at this concept art from The Rise of Skywalker below:

@CowboyzMex214 - Why is the TLJ a slap in the face to George? I thought I remember reading that Rian Johnson talked to Lucas while writing TLJ and also watched the clone wars. Plus Lucas planned on killing Luke. To me, this falls on JJ and Kasdan.

This concept art inspires me to watch the movie again and reconsider my initial critique (shit movie).

I hope they someday make this sequel trilogy disappear. Simply one of many timelines in the World Between Worlds but we eventually grt the true 7-8-9 in animated form.

Help us Dave Filoni, you’re our only hope

@LilJimmy - Grogu better World Between Worlds the hell out of the sequel. If they do it, I hope it's in a comical fashion where he knocks off the emperor's cloning facility soon after Return of the Jedi. I hope its as bad as the humor Rian Johnson incorporated into the beginning of TLJ.

This concept-art of Rey vs. Kylo's TIE looks much more impressive than what we actually ended with in the movie proper.

And it seems like it was always the intention to have Rey and Kylo Ren fight in a familiar scenery from the original trilogy with the elements unleashed in full force around them. I wonder why they chose the Death Star II and the waves of the ocean instead.

For those of us who felt sick to our stomachs after sitting through The Last Jedi, watching the Rise of Skywalker felt like a small piece of justice. It's not the best film and has its issues, but it was worlds better than TLJ and actually attempted to rectify all the mistakes Rian Johnson made. But there was no way to bring a satisfying end to that trilogy. The plotlines that were planted in TFA were ripped to shreds in TLJ, so the finale was always going to be messy.

I'm happy we didn't visit Tatooine for any longer than the one scene in TRoS (which already was nostalgic bait). Also, why didn't Kylo show up in his own TIE at Pasaana?

So, originally Kylo Ren used his Tie Silencer instead of a red Tie Interceptor.
Screw You Abrams, you unimaginative hack.

The Mandalorian is a soft reboot of the Sequel trilogy seen through the eyes of a Bounty Hunter.
