Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker wasn't short on action scenes, but fans still can't help but wonder what ended up on the cutting room floor considering what we've been hearing in recent weeks. After all, we know that Eye of Webbish Bog sequence was filmed, and the rushed pace of the movie surely means that there are deleted scenes somewhere in Lucasfilm.
Well, when Screen Rant recently caught up with The Rise of Skywalker stunt coordinator Eunice Huthart, she confirmed that in terms of action scenes, 90% of what was shot made it into the film.
"I've done movies where I'd say 60 percent, 65 percent or 70 percent of our action makes the film," she explained. "I'd say on the whole, probably 90 percent of what we shot action-wise made the movie." That's an impressive number, but this was a movie heavy on action scenes, so we probably shouldn't be too surprised as those sequences did appear to be a priority over the actual story.
It's possible that Disney is holding on to deleted scenes for The Rise of Skywalker's eventual arrival on Disney+, as Avengers: Endgame debuted there with never-before-seen sequences.
Time will tell on that front, but J.J. Abrams' final chapter in the "Skywalker Saga" promises to remain as divisive as ever, especially when it failed to explain so much about key plot points like The Emperor's return from the dead (something we've since had rely on the novelization to address).
Were you guys happy with the number of action scenes in the movie?
