The Terminator franchise is being auctioned off this month. There are considerable interest on the franchise because it is one of the rare example of a blockbuster franchise which is not controlled by a studio. Those who expressed buying the franchise are Platinum Equity, the Beverly Hills firm, and several other companies. The big film studios have expressed interests in getting the franchise also, leading the pack is Sony Pictures.
Halcyon is selling the rights, they are the company behind Terminator Salvation. Though the auction does not cover the rights to other Terminator films. the buyer of the franchise will be able to make new films, TV series and other spin-offs.
