Deadline Hollywood reports that Lionsgate has bought the Terminator rights in a bankruptcy sale brought by Terminator Salvation production company Halcyon.

Lionsgate, the studio behind Kick-Ass and the Saw franchise, is said to have outbid studios like Sony, Summit Entertainment and Media Rights Capital.

The Halcyon Holding Group, which held the rights to Terminator Salvation and future Terminator installments, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last year and later announced that it would have to auction off the rights to the franchise in order to satisfy its creditors.
