Deadline Hollywood reports that Lionsgate has bought the Terminator rights in a bankruptcy sale brought by Terminator Salvation production company Halcyon.

Lionsgate, the studio behind Kick-Ass and the Saw franchise, is said to have outbid studios like Sony, Summit Entertainment and Media Rights Capital.

The Halcyon Holding Group, which held the rights to Terminator Salvation and future Terminator installments, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last year and later announced that it would have to auction off the rights to the franchise in order to satisfy its creditors.

Phin @ lmao! I'd like to see some of what the tv show had (horrible as it was at the end) w/ Connor trying to ally himself with splinter robot factions. As long as they take over a T-800 factory I'll be all set.

I enjoyed Terminator Salvation & thought McG did the best he could. I loved the style & characters that were brought on screen. Just wish there had been more screen time between Marcus Wright & Blair Williams. I wanted more chemistry & background. I hope Mcg comes back for the 5th & 6th one so there's continuity. We gotta now see the T-800 & Kyle Reese get sent back in time.
