Tron: Legacy surpasses Inception, ties with Avatar....

The Tron sequel takes a whopping $3.5 million in midnight showings.

Hollywood Reporter announced yesterday that Disney's "Tron: Legacy" had grossed roughly $3.5 million in midnight runs. Early estimates suggest that IMAX theatres took a record percentage of the gross (roughly $1 million).

Despite interference due to snow, it still debuted in 228 IMAX locations. The movie surpassed "Inception," which earnt $3 million at late night showings earlier this year, and tied with Avatar also at $3.5 million.
