Two weeks remain until
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theatres, and Disney has continued their marketing push with a new TV spot. The spot, titled "The Death Star", focuses on Jyn Erso vowing to keep taking every opportunity to strike against the Empire, coupled with some ominous images of the deadly space station and the Rebellion's push for freedom.
It remains to be seen how the film explains the scene of the station firing on a planet before the events of
A New Hope (which was implied to have been the first time the weapon was used), though writing it off as a secret weapons test, similar to nuclear bombs, might be the film's way of working around this.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, with Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers.
The movie opens in U.S. theaters on
December 16, 2016.
