SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS Deleted Scene Reveals Razor Fist Originally Sacrificed Himself

A deleted scene from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been officially released, revealing that an earlier cut of the film saw Razor Fist sacrifice himself in order to motivate Awkwafina' Katy.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings arrived on Disney+ just a couple of days ago, and fans have been very happy to have the opportunity to revisit one of Marvel Studios' best origin stories.

Now, one of the movie's deleted scenes has been released, and it reveals a very different fate for one key character. Razor Fist was originally going to die, and this scrapped sequence gives him a rather heroic send-off as Wenwu's right-hand man races into action after giving Katy a pep talk.

In the final cut of Shang-Chi, Razor Fist survives the final battle against the Dweller-in-Darkness' forces and can be seen alongside Xialing in that post-credits scene teasing a new Ten Rings. When we spoke to actor Florian Munteanu, he said that "end credits scenes in the Marvel Universe mean a lot and there are no coincidences in the MCU."

"[Razor Fist is] now following a new leader as payback not only to honour what I always call his stepdad because, at the end of the day, Wenwu gave him a new life and purpose and a home. He trained him and took him away from the streets. She’s his daughter, so there’s more meaning to that than just following a new leader, but we’ll have to see what happens. I can’t wait."

Check out this Shang-Chi deleted scene - and our interview with the Razor Fist actor - below:

Razorfist should have died instead of Death Dealer

Razor Fist following Xialing makes more sense and that peptalk is maybe too similar too Hawkeye's in Age of Ultron, so I see why they scrapped this

@bkmeijer - I thought it was a very cool scene, but, like you said...

Razor Fist should've died, Death Dealer should've lived

Watched this Friday night not expecting much but man this was great and may well be my favourite MCU movie now.

@FlammableSolid - Welcome to the club. Many of us are part of it, it seems. Sounds like there are many like us that had super low expectations going in but were pleasantly surprised. A fantastic movie from start to finish.

I had the exact opposite reaction. After all the reviews I was expecting it to be decent but thought it was terrible. The acting was bad, the plot was generic as was the giant CGI monster fest at the end. Just wasn’t for me I guess. But… if this one got rave reviews and Eternals got bad ones, I find myself wondering just how freakin’ bad the latter must be! Woof.

Oh no, not Goon number 1! Haha I’m just playing I quite liked him as a dude with a magic arm that’s never explained, feels like nowadays most films would feel the need to tell explain how his arm worked.

@Twenty23Three - In an interview with the actor, he stated he had a whole backstory (that was obviously never filmed and/or shown to us). That probably would have made this scene ever better.

But you can't show everyone's back story.

Didn’t really care for the character so I would hav been fine with him biting it. I’d rather they swapped him for Death Dealer personally I’d rather see more of that dude especially given his history with Shang-chi made it seem like they were building up to more of an ultimate showdown between the two

@Ha1frican - he may as well have not been in the movie let’s be real

I wish Death Dealer has survived too, I remember a leaker saying "Death Dealer Will be MCU's Bobba Fett" - and he was exactly This: a cool looking character that seems to be a badass and died easily.

Should have kept that scene in the movie, at least the pep-talk, it's good for both characters and helps contextualize why she took so damn long to shoot that arrow. Death Dealer was a giant waste of a very cool design, they were very much a Captain Phasma type. Razorfist was actually a character so it's good that he's the one that survived.

Watched the movie last night for the first time and I think it is very good. Tony Leung makes everyone else look bad whenever they have to share the screen with him, he's just too damn good compared to the rest of the cast. Sucks that the final fight shifted to a grey CGI rock arena followed by a giant grey CGI monster, playing against all of the movies strengths. The fight in the grass was strong and focused, and it's where the movie should have stayed.

Xialing telling Katy that her father didn't let her train to be the next dictator like she wanted and so ran away to be the dictator to her own evil Empire, followed by Katy going "hell yeah!" was cringe. Look, I get not saying anything when you're alone in the room with said wannabe tyrant, but at least say something to Shang-Chi afterwards!

Well I think we can safely say that cutting that scene was a good decision 👍 the whole stopping in the middle of an invasion to discuss the current predicament just never goes well.
