We're mere hours away from DC Studios revealing "Chapter One" of the new DCU, but will Shazam be part of those plans? With conflicting reports about how much of a reboot we're actually getting, your guess is as good as ours for now, but Shazam! Fury of the Gods being a box office hit may help keep the Shazam Family in this shared world.
The latest trailer generated quite a bit of positive buzz, anyway, even if it was a surprisingly spoilery sneak peek that essentially spelt out the entire plot of the sequel!
Now, we have character descriptions for each member of the Shazam Family which, in comparison, don't really ruin anything about the movie. They do, however, shed some light on what we can expect from the teenagers turned superheroes in the Shazam! follow-up, explaining how each of them has become acquainted with their powers and where we find them here.
That trailer suggested they'll each have their powers taken from them over the course of this movie, though that likely means we can expect the spotlight to be put on Billy Batson for much of this adventure.
Take a look at these new character descriptions for Shazam! Fury of the Gods below.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word "SHAZAM!," is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.
Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy - aka Shazam - and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.
The sequel's cast includes Zachary Levi as Shazam, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Adam Brody as Super Hero Freddy, Ross Butler as Super Hero Eugene, Meagan Good as Super Hero Darla, D.J. Cotrona as Super Hero Pedro, Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield/Super Hero Mary.
Djimon Hounsou returns as the Wizard, while Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, and Helen Mirren have all joined the movie as newly created villains.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to be released on March 17, 2023.
