Sin City 2 Filming Could Begin "Sometime This Year," Says Rosario Dawson

Comic book babe Rosario Dawson dishes on the Sin City sequel.

Not even a month after “Sin City” star Michael Clarke Duncan told us he hadn’t heard a peep about “Sin City 2″, the plot thickens. Now, Rosario Dawson, the straight-talking star who once strapped herself into black leather to play the role of gang gal Gail says that she’s leaving room open on her 2009 calendar for the long-awaited sequel.

“Yeah, I talked to Robert [Rodriguez] and Frank [Miller],” she said of a recent conversation with the director and writer who joined forces with Quentin Tarantino for the hit 2005 film. “They actually just finished the script for ‘Sin City 2’ a few months ago.”

Dawson’s comments echo the statements made by Mickey Rourke, Jaime King and others that they’re be kept apprised of the latest script developments. Meanwhile, additional ensemble possibilities like Duncan, Alexis Bledel and Angelina Jolie told us when we last spoke with them that they haven’t heard a peep.

By all accounts, “Sin City 2” will be comprised of various tales from Miller’s groundbreaking graphic novel series. Although it will focus mainly on “A Dame to Kill For,” Miller’s deliriously disjointed narrative could conceivably bring any character back from the dead. The writer/director has indicated in the past that such deceased characters as Dwight (Clive Owen), Shellie (Brittany Murphy), Nancy (Jessica Alba), Manute (Michael Clarke Duncan) and Rosario’s Gail could all return for the sequel.

“Hopefully that will happen,” Rosario Dawson explained. “There’s talks about it shooting sometime this year.”

Only deceased character on that list is Manute. 'A Dame To Kill For" is a spectacular story. It's mainly about Dwight before the events we saw in Sin City 1 and he works with Marv in the story. I for one would like to see storie's involving Delia brought onscreen. 'Blue Eyes' would be a good one sice it takes place at the same time as 'A Dame To Kill For'

also, they have "Family Values" that they could use....
I expect they will do like they did for the first one..... Miller could even have written a new story(or 2) for the sequel.
It's all possible.

Angelina Jolie? She seems too big a celebrity to be in it. Loved the first Sin City.

There has been talk of Jolie joining the cast since rumors of the sequel first surfaced. Johnny Depp was even talked about for the role of Wallace for an adaptation of the story, "Hell and Back"

Johnny Depp seems as though he can "play nice with others", "gets along well with others", Angelina Jolie... not so much. IMO. I can see Johnny more in the movie. He doesnt care, he just wants to act (which he is very good at) and enjoys making movies. Angelina, i dk. I dont think it's a bad thing if she were in the movie I just dont see it with so many other celebrities in it as well.

Tyco450... I hear you! Finally! I hope it's as good as the 1st one!

I would think Clive Owen would be replaced because Dwight character temps to get face changes.

This is great news. I am such a big Sin City fan and I think that they chose the next logical book to go for. If we do get another Sin City I will be able to die a happy man!!

They probably won't replace Clive Owen. They'll just give him some latex on the face like with Marv.

Angelina Jolie was going to play Ava Lord, but she was pregnant and they decided not to film until she could do it. She was the first reason that the movie was held up. After that it was just a bunch of stuff. I heard that either Rachel Wiesz or Rose McGowan is going to play Ava now.

They did write a new story and it's for Nancy after Hartigan's death. They'll prob do that one and A Dame to Kill For and then just a few short stories for the next one. I'd bet they'll do the Delia stories because she has a role in the third one which is going to revolve around Hell and Back.

I'll bet they'll open with Silent Night for this one and then they'll put Just Another Saturday Night in the third one because Marv doesn't have any other role in the third movie. I hope they'll put the Babe Wore Red in the next, but they might save that one for the third as well.

Babe Wore Red should def be in the 3rd. Blue Eyes takes place during A Dame To Kill For, which is why I chose it. Rachel Weisz would be a good Ava Lord.

I'm thinkin' they'll put Just Another Saturday Night and The Babe Wore Red in the third one because Dwight and Marv aren't in Hell and Back. But then again they might put Family Values in the third one.
