Irfan Khan "Official" Website Claims That Rhys Ifans Is Playing Norman Osborn/Green Goblin!

A site which is seemingly the official page of the Bollywood actor, features a report stating that Rhys Ifans is playing Norman Osborn/Green Goblin and that Khan will indeed transform into Proto-Goblin...

I'm really not sure what to make of this. A site which advertises itself as the official page for actor Irfan Khan has a report featured on its main page which states that the Bollywood actor will be playing the monstrous Proto-Goblin and that Welsh actor Rhys Ifans is set to star as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, despite previous reports leading us to believe that he'll be playing Curt Connors/The Lizard. Here it is for you to read for yourself.

As I'm sure you'll have noticed, the site seem to believe this is a sequel to Spider-Man 3, possibly an easy enough mistake to make for anyone not familiar with the concept of a superhero reboot. If this is in fact the official site for the actor, it leaves me wondering where exactly they have gotten the idea that Ifans will portray Norman Osborn. From Khan himself? This report also seems to confirm that he'll be portraying Proto-Goblin!

I really have no idea what to make of this as there has to be some weight behind a report on an official site for a star of The Amazing Spider-Man. Right? If so, it looks like all these reports of the Lizard have been a clever misdirection by Sony. Be sure to share your thoughts in the ususal place!

With an all star cast that includes Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans, The Amazing Spider-Man is set to be released in 3D on July 3, 2012!

Ummm okay I highly doubt it because Khan himself said that he wouldn't take the part if he had to transform into somebody else or play some1 with a mask or something like that

Norman Osborn is so overdone.

P.S. Someone needs to do some more homework.

I have a feeling this is BS. we've heard tons of rumors about the Lizard being in it and what those scenes might include. And it would be very weird having Norman but no Harry, which I don't see happening.

And as much as I think Ifans could do a sinister Goblin character, I don't think he could work as Norman Osborn. If this is a trilogy it would be great to see a goblin down the road, but it dont see it working with this actor.

This could be true. Marvel and Sony never confirmed Ifans as The Lizard. Fan Speculation and unknown "sources" confirmed it.

@xXkryptoniteXx How is it changing the race? yes, Rhys Ifans isn't american but I mean, he's white so it doesn't make a difference.

Interesting find dude. Although this site clearly hasn't got a baldy notion what it's on about and simply mixed up the characters! There was early speculation that Ifans might be playing Osbourne, and their description of Proto Goblin is also identical to the ones we all used to describe him when Khan was first cast. My guess is these guts have been doing some web surfing and just got the wrong end of the stick. BUT, I don't believe Ifans has actually been OFFICIALLY confirmed as Lizard yet either..

@Tony13175: I was just about to say it was probably a typo. EDIT: It seems that Tony deleted his comment but he said that he checked out the website and they had fixed the Norman Sbourne thing and it has been changed to Dr. Connors/Lizard.
As for Irfan Khan being Proto-Goblin maybey he just said he wouldn't to surprise us or something. I don't know actors are weird.

Whaaaaaat.... but the one dude was said to be the lizard and I thought the other guy was complaining about 'violent american' movies so how could he be a 'violent' villain? I mean... the thing and the stuff at the place... dang it, my brain is now broke....

Tony13175: Not sure about any previous comments you've made getting deleted, but I took a look at that link and it's basically just a copy and paste news report from another site. (some Indian one that I've never heard of) What's being displayed on their main page (which you can see in the screencap above) is directly from THEM. :) It's a mystery either way that's for sure!

On another note, I wonder why we haven't heard or seen about any of the other cast members such as uncle ben and peter's parents.

Wait a minute.....what about the article stating that Spidey will fight SWAT team guys that transformed to LIZARDS! And recently somebody made an article saying that a worker in the movie said that there will be a scene with Peter, Gwen, and the LIZARD!
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 3/5/2011, 8:20 PM
This is definitely a pretty strange report, and while it seems likely that it's a mistake on their part, it's worth remembering that Curt Connors and the Lizard have NEVER been officially confirmed as being in this movie despite some rumors and set reports making it seem otherwise. Everything we've heard so far could very easily have been misdirection from Sony because when you think about it, we actually know pretty much NOTHING about The Amazing Spider-Man! :) Either way, I'm not expecting any sort of confirmation or debunking from anyone. We'll just have to wait and see if the site get in touch and say they made a mistake!
