SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME - Sony Under Fire For "False Advertising" Due To Missing Blu-ray Deleted Scenes

If you've rushed out to buy Spider-Man: No Way Home on Blu-ray today, then you'll have quickly realised that the advertised deleted scenes are missing from the disc. Find more details after the jump...

When Spider-Man: No Way Home swung into UK stories on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Blu-ray earlier this month, fans were disappointed to learn that the deleted scenes were nowhere to be found. Unfortunately, it's now been confirmed that they're also absent from U.S. editions of the disc.

Many retailers still have the packshot below on their websites, while a Reddit user has confirmed that the Walmart exclusive edition still promises deleted scenes. This is likely because it was printed prior to them being removed, leading some to accuse Sony Pictures of "false advertising."

When the Blu-ray release of Spider-Man: No Way Home was announced, we were promised 10 minutes of deleted scenes, including "Interrogation Scene Extended," "Peter Day at Midtown High," "Undercroft Montage," "Happy's Very Good Lawyer," and "The Spideys Hang Out."

This is massively disappointing, and we can only assume the plan is to re-release the threequel in theaters as an extended cut that will include these deleted scenes. It's hard to imagine why else Sony would decide against putting them on the Blu-ray, but this means we've now missed out on everything from another Matt Murdock scene to an additional five minutes or so of the three Spider-Men hanging out.

We've reached out to Sony Pictures for comment, but have yet to receive a response.

I understand studios want to push streming, but A-this is False Advertising, and B-Sony doesnt even have a streming service!

Are they deliberately sabotaging the Marvel brand?

They pulled the plug on the deleted scenes and maybe are doing an Extended Edition in theaters to....idk?...make more money?

@Gandressmex - That would be really dumb, and you are basically ripping-off people who bought the bluray.

@Gandressmex - to pass the 2 billion mark no doubt but weeks ago would’ve been the time, not that it’s actual added value mind ya but the further out the harder to dupe people. “In this version Otto Octavius clips his fingernails! ALL of em” “nice!…. Heyyy he didn’t clip his robot ones! Aw crap. He doesn’t have any!” “And I’m reaping allll the benefits”

@MCUKnight11 - I mean lets not forget the film was supposed to release before Venom 2 and NWH, so i wont be surprised if they had to do some heavy retooling that Morbius can now fit in where it was now

Deleted scenes usually suck and are sometimes unfinished so it didn’t really bother me either way tbh, however I liked the movie even more on second viewing at home

@eagc1995 - but in my eyes it’s just bad taste to reveal your movies biggest moments in advertisement pre or post release
