When Spider-Man: No Way Home swung into UK stories on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Blu-ray earlier this month, fans were disappointed to learn that the deleted scenes were nowhere to be found. Unfortunately, it's now been confirmed that they're also absent from U.S. editions of the disc.
Many retailers still have the packshot below on their websites, while a Reddit user has confirmed that the Walmart exclusive edition still promises deleted scenes. This is likely because it was printed prior to them being removed, leading some to accuse Sony Pictures of "false advertising."
When the Blu-ray release of Spider-Man: No Way Home was announced, we were promised 10 minutes of deleted scenes, including "Interrogation Scene Extended," "Peter Day at Midtown High," "Undercroft Montage," "Happy's Very Good Lawyer," and "The Spideys Hang Out."
This is massively disappointing, and we can only assume the plan is to re-release the threequel in theaters as an extended cut that will include these deleted scenes. It's hard to imagine why else Sony would decide against putting them on the Blu-ray, but this means we've now missed out on everything from another Matt Murdock scene to an additional five minutes or so of the three Spider-Men hanging out.
We've reached out to Sony Pictures for comment, but have yet to receive a response.
