The new trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home premiered last night (it's well worth checking out if you haven't seen it yet), and Tom Holland was on hand for a Q&A with fans in Los Angeles. That event didn't deliver the "big" surprises we hoped for (primarily an appearance from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield), but the actor did share some fun anecdotes with those in attendance.
Asked by the host about getting to work with Green Goblin actor Willem Dafoe, Holland admitted: "The first rehearsal I had with him was pretty surreal for reasons I can't really talk about because I want you to experience it in the theater. It was pretty incredible and he's a wonderful guy."
"These guys are very excited to be coming back and bringing these roles back to life. They came to set a week before they started shooting to see what it was like," he continued, referring to the Norman Osborn actor. "I just bumped into this guy in a cloak. I was like, ‘Watch out mate.’ He took his hood off and I almost got really scared. ‘Oh shit, the Goblin is here.’ But he was lovely. He was really wonderful and a real joy to work with."
Rumour has it Green Goblin will be Spider-Man: No Way Home's lead villain, so it's no wonder Holland had a lot to say bout Dafoe's return (he did, however, also heap plenty of praise on Alfred Molina).
Ultimately, it seems the actor is just excited for fans to see a movie he believes not only exceeds expectations, but blows them away. "This movie exceeds expectations in every way movie. This is the most cinematic superhero movie that has ever been made. I’m proud to say Sony and Marvel have pulled off the impossible."
With tickets set to go on sale on November 29, we're expecting one final trailer for the movie that will finally highlight those alternate reality Spider-Man. We'll see!
Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. on December 17 and in the UK on December 15.
