Sony Pictures has officially dated their upcoming Spider-Man spinoff, Silver and Black, for a February 8, 2019 release date.

The movie will follow the popular Spidey universe characters Felicia Hardy a.k.a. Black Cat and Silver Sablinova a.k.a. Silver Sable as they embark on an adventure that is being described as "an old school action film in the vein of The Dirty Dozen."

Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love & Basketball) is helming the female superhero adventure with a script from Lisa Joy (Westworld) and Christopher Yost (Thor: Ragnarok). Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal are on-board as producers.

Looking ahead, 2019 is once again shaping up to be a big year for comic book movies with possibly seven superhero movies opening in a six-month period. Check out the updated calendar below:

  • Silver and Black - February 8, 2019
  • Untitled X-Men Film - February 15, 2019
  • Captain Marvel - March 8, 2019
  • Shazam! - April 5, 2019
  • Avengers 4 - May 3, 2019
  • Untitled Fox/Marvel Film - June 7, 2019
  • Untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming Sequel - July 5, 2019
  • Wonder Woman 2 - December 13, 2019
In other news, the studio has also announced a June 29, 2018 release date for their highly anticipated Sicario sequel, Soldado, which will return both Benicio del Toro (Avengers: Infinity War) and Josh Brolin (Deadpool 2) to their original roles.

We also have updates on the Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly mystery comedy Holmes & Watson, which will now bow on November 9, 2018, and the long-gestating Bad Boys sequel, Bad Boys For Life, which has been removed from their release schedule and is now listed as TBD. Meanwhile, the Anne Hathaway-led Barbie has been slated for August 8, 2018.
