Andrew Garfield Reflects On His "Disenchanting" Time As THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

By this point, Andrew Garfield has got to be getting sick and tired of questions about the few short years he spent playing Spider-Man. However, the British actor is more than willing to shed some light on the experience, and his latest comments are very telling indeed. Read on for details!

It's hard to feel too sorry for this guy, right?

Once this press tour for 99 Homes wraps up, Andrew Garfield can probably look forward to no longer being quizzed about his time spent playing Spider-Man (though depending on the timing, he'll likely be asked for his thoughts on Tom Holland's take on Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War next year). When The Independent asked the actor to reflect on the experience, he told them: "There were beautiful things about it and also privileged things about it which I struggled with and then some really disenchanting things that happened," he revealed in what is no doubt a veiled reference to the behind the scenes chaoas which gave us The Amazing Spider-Man 2

"Hollywood is the epicentre of worldly values where a piece of art is judged, not on how many lives it touches or what change it makes, but as long as that film makes money," Garfield continued. "Only then is it a success. Or as long as that film gets awards then it’s a success, its worthy to be here. I feel lucky that I now have that awareness that something is damaging and can separate me from just being in the world, and I really want to be in the world even though it’s painful. I’d much rather be in the world than in some ivory tower somewhere." Phew, that's some pretty heavy stuff right there. You've got to feel for Garfield though. He went from being a relative unknown brought out on stage to be announced as taking over the role of one of the world's most iconic superheroes to starring in a critically panned failure which was a commercial flop (mostly due to how much Sony spent on it) and pretty much killed the franchise at Sony.

Will you miss Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man? As always, be sure to let us know below...

Shut the [frick] up Garfield. Nobody gives a flying [frick]. Your [frick]ing Emma Stone, [frick]ed someone else while [frick]ing Emma Stone, and got Emma back and are still [frick]ing her.

Why are [frick] are you on this [frick]ing pity party crying over shitty Spider-Man films?

My God people complain about Tobey crying in his Spidey films, at least he got the [frick] over them and went on to do great work instead of keep talking about how he was Spidey like a whiny like bitch.

Just shut the [frick] up Garfield.

@Levitikuz Why don't you yell at Josh who keeps posting every quote of Andrew's and making a whole news story about it? It's not AG's fault that EVERY news outlet is asking him Spider-man questions on his "99 Homes" promo tour.

Jesus Christmas, we get it, these movies sucked. We hated them, he hated them, I bet even Jesus hated them. Just how many times are were gonna write the exact same article over and over again?

@LEVITIKUZ

Don't blame Garfield, blame the people who are asking him these questions. This is far more irritating for him than it is for you who can simply not look up these articles.

LEVITIKUZ - 9/12/2015, 8:27 PM
Stop telling me to blame people asking him the questions. Actors can state before an interview if there is certain things they don't want to talk about. Andrew still wants to talk about Spidey because he has nothing else to talk about.

@Levitikuz He has nothing else to talk about? He's been promoting "99 Homes" and has been talking a lot about that. They've been asking him a lot about his latest project with Scorsese and this week, he just started filming his new film directed by Mel Gibson which they have asked him about too. But of course Josh & CBM aren't going to report on that and will only focus on any small TASM comment he makes, so of course it looks like all he's been talking about is Spidey!

Wait a minute, did he seriously cheat on Emma Stone?? What an idiot

Okay i loved Garfield in the role, but i'm with the rest of the site on this one, i'm sick of hearing him talk about it now. He aint spider-man anymore, he did the best he could with what he had, but that time is over now. Lets move on from him and go to Tom HGlland, who will undoubtedly knock it out of the [frick]ing park.

Totally dug ASM and ASM 2. Yeah, they weren't good but Andrew will always (or atleast till next year if this new kids good) be my favorite Spidey.

its not his fault that people are interviewing him and asking questions. Sure he can divert the question or simply state that he doesnt want to talk about it but that would look worse than him speaking on it. jesus christ stop bashing the dude when hes the one that actually cared about the franchise and the character.

Why do people keep asking him about Spider-Man?
Don't they know they're making the CBM community throw fits every day, even though they're the ones that chose to read the article in the first place?

@MrCBM56 I think Garfield is sick of talking about Spider-Man at this point. But interviewers still gonna ask and what are you gonna do? Snub them with "no comment"?

I use to like Garfield but now I am getting sick and tired of his whininess and his "woe is me"-attitude disenchantment with playing Spider-Man and and his progressivism B.S. wishing Spider-Man was gay or a pansexual. STFU, dude. You got the biggest opportunity ever to be one of the coolest characters of all time. Embrace it; accept what happened and move on. Don't treat it as a pity party. Yeah, it sucks you can't finish out your trilogy the way Toby Maguire got to finish his, but Avi Arad and other Sony douches ruined your chance; not you. Heck, some responsibility and blame needs to be passed onto Marc Webb for going along with, and having some dumb ideas of his own for the franchise.

But now it's back at Marvel and we can be happy again. Seriously, if I was Garfield I would just say, "I loved playing him and sad the ride ended too early, but oh well..." instead of this "Wahhh! I want my mommy. Listen to me be a whiny hippie" B.S.

Oh god the butthurt of Cleveland's own LEVITIKUZ on a TASM article is hilarious. Can't seem to stand the fact that someone other than his precious Tobey Maguire playing Spidey and that someone did a better job.

Remember when seeing LEVITKUZ'S comments try to act surprised that he is an asshole.😉

@BlackStar25 You won't be called. If you would be called for that, then you would have been called already. He HAS been talking about stuff besides Spider-Man he's promoting his new project and upcoming project as well. But the only thing this site is going to bother with reporting is the phantom pain he gets from reliving the chaos of his Spider-Man career brought on by interviewers who just won't let it go.

If sony were smart they would do a Spider-Man different dimensions adaption and bring back both Tobey and Andrew to star alongside Tom. They would make soooo much bank. It would be a very nice way to give Garfield a final goodbye.
