Spider-Man: Far From Home has been met with overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and the signs are all pointing to it being the most successful Spider-Man movie yet at the box office.

Released last week in China and a number of international locations today before its debut in North America tomorrow, we're now breaking down the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel's biggest moments and surprises. Regardless of whether you just can't wait to find out what happens or need a recap after watching the movie, this article should be a must-read for you.

We also break down the mid and post-credits scenes, and believe us when we say you won't want to miss them because they're easily among the most shocking ones yet from the MCU.

So, check out our Spider-Man: Far From Home breakdown by hitting the "View List" button!

Mysterio's Arrival

The movie kicks off with Nick Fury and Maria Hill investigating an attack from one of the Elementals, and it's then that they come face to face with Mysterio. He suddenly lands in front of them and makes it clear that he doesn't know who they are while alluding to being from another Earth.

It's then that we get the "You don't want any part of this" scene from the trailers, as he uses his powers to take down the unidentified Elemental who looks a little bit like Sandman. The world has a brand new superhero, but is he all that he claims to be? We'll get to that little later in this post...

"The Blip"

What happened when The Hulk used the Infinity Stones to bring back the billions of lives that Thanos erased? Well, we get to see some amateur footage of that as the people literally reappear right where they were five years prior. That means, for example, kids who were playing basketball during the original snap show up in the middle of band practice in the gymnasium of Peter Parker's high school!

The incident has been named "The Blip," and Aunt May talks about showing up in her old apartment much to the shock of its new residents. It turns out that a lot of people were displaced by the Mad Titan's attack and May is now working for a charity devoted to helping them.

Far From Home

Leaving his Iron Spider costume in a containment unit and his classic red and blue costume in his closet (which is later smuggled into his suitcase by May), Peter heads off on his trip with his friends and the typical Parker Luck is on hand from the very start. He tries to sit by MJ on the flight but ends up sandwiched between two teachers while Ned is left next to Betty.

After arriving in Venice, Ned and Betty have become an item and Brad Davis continues to make moves on MJ. It's then that Hydro-Man attacks and Peter gets to see Mysterio in action for himself. Dodging Nick Fury's calls hasn't worked because he appears in Peter's hotel room, knocks out Ned, and summons the wall-crawler to his secret base in the city.

E.D.I.T.H.

Fury has something for Peter that was left to him by Tony Stark. His sunglasses contain an A.I. called E.D.I.T.H. (an acronym for "Even Dead I'm The Hero") which grants the wall-crawler access to all of Iron Man's tech and the satellites he has watching over the world. It's a lot of responsibility for the hero, and things get even harder for him when he learns about the Multiverse's existence!

Mysterio introduces himself and reveals that he's from another world, one that was destroyed by the Elemetals. The most dangerous of them is Molten-Man (not that he's ever named that) and if he grows large enough and gains access to the Earth's core, he will be able to destroy it. Wanting to enjoy his vacation, Peter says he would rather not get involved and trusts Mysterio to handle things.

The Stealth Suit

Fury isn't going to let that happen, though, and hijacks the hero's field trip. Dmitri (who shows no signs of being a villain or The Chameleon) drives the school bus and sends Peter to meet up with up with a very beautiful secret agent who demands that he try on the Stealth Suit then and there. Brad catches Peter with his pants off, takes a photo, and says he's going to show MJ.

After trying out E.D.I.T.H., Peter manages to wipe the photo from Brad's phone but also summons a drone strike on his fellow high school student! This leads to a fun action sequence, but one that makes the youngster realise that he needs to be a little more careful with this tech.

Molten Man Strikes

In Prague, Molten Man attacks the city and Peter joins Mysterio in battling the massive Elemental. They manage to defeat the monster and Quentin Beck proves that he's a true hero by very nearly sacrificing himself to put the monster down once and for all.

Peter and Quentin then go and get a drink and the web-slinger decides that the best man to take control of E.D.I.T.H. is actually Mysterio, as he believes that Tony must have wanted him to find someone worthy of being the next Iron Man. Telling the A.I. to give Mysterio access to all of Tony's tech, the two part ways...and it's then that the truth comes out!

It Was All A Lie

The bar around Mysterio starts to fade away and it's revealed to have been an illusion created by state of the art projectors. Beck wanted to get his hands on E.D.I.T.H. the whole time, and is revealed to be a disgruntled former Stark Industries employee. It turns out that he created B.A.R.F. and was fired by Tony after expressing his digust over the way he chose to use it.

His employees include a few familiar faces, including the scientist who helped Obidiah Stane create the Iron Monger armour. The Multiverse isn't real and the Mysterio we've seen in action is also an illusion controlled and programmed by Beck from a distance with what is essentially mo-cap technology, drones with projectors and weapons, and a fishbowl-like helmet he wears on his head.

Beck's plan is to become known as the world's greatest superhero and take charge of Tony's tech.

Mysterio's Illusions

MJ witnessed the battle between Spider-Man, Mysterio and Molten Man and found a strange looking piece of tech which landed in front of her during the melee. After revealing to Peter that she's figured out he and the wall-crawler are one and the same, they work out that the machine is actually a drone which created that entire battle.

Meeting up with Nick Fury in Berlin, they come under attack from Mysterio and it's then that we get one of the best sequences in the entire MCU as the villain unleashes the full extent of his "illusion" powers to take Peter on a mind-bending trip that includes Iron Man's skeleton rising up from his grave, and culminates with the wall-crawler being hit by a train upon realising Fury was a fake.

Back In Black

Spidey manages to survive but is left feeling devastated after what Mysterio put him through. However, he manages to contact Happy Hogan and the two head to London to try and stop the villain once and for all. It's then that the wall-crawler creates his new suit, while Tony Stark's best friend puts on some tunes: AC/DC's "Back in Black."

Happy manages to contact the real Fury who is alerted to the fact that Mysterio is a fraud just as another massive Elemental is unleashed on the city. Mysterio realises he has to kill Fury, Maria Hill, Ned, and MJ in order to hide his secret, and drones pursue Peter's classmates while the hero races to stop Beck and shut them down by regaining access to E.D.I.T.H.

The Final Battle

In an epic final battle which shows just how confident Spidey has become as a hero now, he exposes Mysterio's illusions and comes face to face with the villain who betrayed him. Finally accessing his Spider-Sense, Peter races through one final gauntlet of drones and manages to deliver a final blow to Beck who ends up taking a bullet from one of his own drones.

Regaining E.D.I.T.H., Peter manages to shut the rest of them down and seemingly forgives Beck...who was actually an illusion! The real Mysterio attempts to shoot the wall-crawler in the head but is stopped thanks to Spidey's newfound superpower (a.k.a. his "Peter Tingle").

Mysterio's Death

Now, Mysterio does actually die, something Spider-Man confirms with E.D.I.T.H. This doesn't appear to be any sort of illusion and with no sign of Chameleon, it's not like that character could have taken his place, either!

If the Sinister Six is coming to the MCU, they're now down a member. The scientist from Iron Man is then shown retrieving a memory stick; could Mysterio have recorded one final message?

Romance And Heartbreak

After his victory, Spider-Man and MJ finally share a kiss on London Bridge and it now appears they're finally an item! Upon returning to the US, though, Ned and Betty have broken up and it seems like May was happy with her romance with Happy Hogan being little more than a summer fling!

Things start to return to normal, and Peter arranges to meet with MJ in Manhattan...

Swinging Through The Big Apple

After swinging past Avengers Tower (the new owners are never revealed and we don't get to see the logo on the building), Peter picks up MJ and takes her on a ride. Well, it turns out she's not overly keen on web-slinging, as we get to see exactly what it would feel like to be taken for a ride by Spider-Man.

The movie ends here, but it turns out that the best is actually yet to come!

Outed

The mid-credits scene picks up immediately where the movie ends as Spider-Man swings through New York City with MJ. After setting her down and leaping on top of a nearby lamppost, a news reports starts playing on one of Madison Square Garden's big screens with a breaking story from TheDailyBugle.net.

The site has acquired an exclusive video from the movie's final battle and the anchor then passes things over to J. Jonah Jameson...played by J.K. Simmons!

He shares a video Mysterio recorded which he's manipulated to make it appear as if Spider-Man was the one attacking the city, and claims that the wall-crawler has taken him out because he wants to be the new Tony Stark. Jameson brands Spidey a menace and blames him for the murder of the world's greatest superhero before sharing the second half of the video.

In that, Mysterio reveals that Spider-Man is Peter Parker and a photo of the high school student is shown on the screen as the hero watches on in horror and we return to the credits...

Secret Invasion?

The after-credits scene kicks off with Nick Fury and Maria Hill driving together, and it's then that they transform into Talos and his wife! They've been Skrulls all along, and while you might think this is the start of a "Secret Invasion," we quickly learn that Talos (who hasn't aged a day) is covering for the real Fury.

Where is he?

Well, he's taking a much needed vacation, and after receiving a call from Talos, we learn that the former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director is chilling out on a beach which turns out to be a simulation on a spaceship full of Skrulls! It seems Fury has decided to spend some time in space with Captain Marvel (who isn't shown) and the scene ends with him asking the aliens if they've seen his shoes.

It's a moment played for laughs, and seemingly not one that will have any huge ramifications.

I have a lot of respect for how they aren't jumping on the Sinister 6 hype train and focusing more on building a solid foundation for Spider-Man as a character and his growth from a regular human teen into a superhero.

If you haven't seen the movie: DON'T READ THIS ARTICLE OR THESE COMMENTS, YOU MANIACS.

If you have seen it... holy shit. I thought it was good overall, but more than that, it's insane how many of the narrative decisions reflect a confidence in the MCU as a whole. It has a puckishness that is very endearing, even if it's not precisely the Homecoming sequel I might have wanted.

If RorMachine comes here, what happened with his review of the movie ? First, the article appeared without the review part. Then, the whole article just disappeared.

I would have been very interested to read his opinion about the movie.

@Amuro - Yeah that was a mistake... it's actually a feature and I hadn't completed it when it went live last night, I just forgot to reset the date. It should be up tomorrow.

As for what I thought of the movie... you'll find out here:)
