Spider-Man 3 is often criticized, but it is still a great movie that actually paved the way for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Welcome to ComicBookMovie is Hericho! I'm the Best in The Internet at what I do. You know the oldest lie in America, Senator? It's that Spider-Man 3 is an awful-to-average movie. Only STUPID IDIOTS think that. Spider-Man 3 is a great movie, and it actually influenced your beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe.
One of the major critiques of Spider-Man 3 is the dancing scenes. That just makes me laugh. Then these same haters go out and praise the dance off scene in Gaurdians of the Galaxy as creative genius. Talk about hyprocisy! Peter Parker dancing in the halls was a  giant step in superhero movies as it showed that these larger than life characters could be put in light situations and still be heroic. It was a "fun" scene that you wouldn't have expected. I don't think there would be a dance off in Gaurdians of the Galaxy if Spider-Man 3 first didn't test the waters 7 years earlier.
There are all these superhero team-ups nowadays, and it was the ending to Spider-Man 3 that influenced it.  Spider-Man 3's climax saw Spider-Man team up with New Goblin to battle Sandman and Venom.  What a historic scene that was.  It was a precedent move that saw a superhero partner up with another super-being to take on a threat that he couldn't handle alone. I'll always remeber being in theatres and hearing the audience clap with cheers as Spidey and Harry were trading quips and kicking bad-guy booty all at the same. It was  then at that moment that Kevin Feige thought to himself, " I like this teaming up concept. What if we built a cinematic universe founded on the belief that all these great characters could interact with each other throught a collection of movies?" Think about it. Would The Avengers have been made if Spider-Man 3 hadn't showed what a superhero team up could look like?
Also in the climax, Harry met his fate and died. No one saw it coming. The  people behing Spider-Man 3 had the guts to kill of an iconic comic book character on film to create a touching moment that will be remembered through the ages. Recently, we've seen all kinds of character deaths in superhero films. I think it's safe to say Harry's death made that all possible.
Next time you go with the internet hive mindset and say "Spider-Man 3 sucks", well think again.  Sam Raimi and company made a superhero movie that not only provided the potential of superhero team up films, but also transcended the genre with its dancing and death. For that, I applaud Spider-Man 3 and so should you. It is a great movie that influenced the Marvel Cinematic Universe and superhero movies in general.

Interesting read. SM3 was almost great, if Raimi would of been allowed to do his film instead of having to force Venom in.

I have the trilogy, and love how they embraced the cheesy aspect.

I agree this movie gets a lot of hate it doesn't deserve but I'm not so sure about the Harry team up being an inspiration for the Avengers, you had X men and fantastic four movies by the time the third one came about and both of those are better examples of teamed up heroes. I super agree with the dancing thing though, and what I love that nobody understands is that the dancing was supposed to be painfully bad, Peter is not a cool guy. The suit makes him confident enough to dance and although it is arguably good dancing it is cheesy and its definitely not our version of 'cool' dancing. I love the scene though because it is true to his character.

Spiderman 3 is a beloved film that inspired such classics as The Amazing Spiderman 2 and Batman v Superman.

@SteveRogers9 - Spiderman 3 is miles better than those. Those films were inspired by fantastic 4 films and the reboot.

You are right, ultimately the dancing scene is far from being the worst thing in Spider-man 3.... But much like Jar Jar in Episode 1 it has become emblematic of the film's wider structural failings, of which there are many.
