SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Star Tom Holland Reveals An Astonishing Secret About One Of The Movie's Posters

Spider-Man: Homecoming passed $700 million over the weekend and now star Tom Holland has revealed a very surprising new piece of information about the story behind one of the movie's first teaser posters.

As poster campaigns go, Spider-Man: Homecoming had a good one. While they didn't quite manage to top what Warner Bros. came up with for Wonder Woman, they were all still pretty inventive and the first one in particular left fans talking. In case you can't remember (and haven't scrolled all the way down yet), that featured Spider-Man chilling out with the NYC skyline and Avengers Tower behind him.

Now, Tom Holland has revealed a very unexpected piece of information about the teaser as it turns out that it was dreamed up by Marvel after they were sent a photograph of him actually asleep on set!

"Interesting story about that poster is that is actually me asleep," the British actor revealed in a recent interview. "That’s not part of the movie, that’s me in-between takes asleep. We were shooting this scene and I was just really tired that day, and I was just asleep on the floor, and the photographer took a picture. So when they made that the poster, I was like ‘What the hell, guys!’"

You have to give them props for inventiveness but it would be pretty cool to see that original image and how it was manipulated for the poster. Either way, this probably shows why you shouldn't sleep on the job as you never know who could be watching or what will come of it. Did his Spider-Sense not tingle?

I sincerely hope that in the coming dozens upon dozens of variant blu ray combo pack covers and retail exclusives, this poster in particular becomes one of the box art.

So I see some people complain about the rubble scene where Pete should have recalled Uncle Ben's quote instead of Stark's? About how that scene ruins Uncle Ben's role in Pete's life and makes Spidey the ultimate Iron Man's bitch?

Amazing Spider-Man #3:

Oh sh*t. I guess Pete is Johnny Storm's bitch in the comic then.

The story of Spider-Man is all about self-doubting, learning and picking oneself up. Getting inspirations from different people is nothing wrong. Besides, Uncle Ben's quote placed in that scene would have been totally out of place. Pete already proved "with great power comes great responsibility" by leaving the homecoming dance to bring his girlfriend's dad to justice. Now when he's under the rubble, he does not believe he has that "great power" to begin with without the high tech suit, so Stark's quote comes to his mind and boosts his confidence. Totally logical.

Although I understand the role of the avengers tower, I hate how it turns 90 degrees on a poster so that it fits on nicely

I still think this is the best poster for the film. It really sells the spirit of the film and feels unique.

The MCU has a lot of bad posters, but this one of their best.

I do like that poster... it's got a great, casual vibe to it, and the yellow coat makes it extra colorful and fun.

It'll be interesting to see if this ends up on the top of the world-wide Superhero box office this year. Even if so, I think it still has room to grow with the sequel as people discover how fun it was on video.

Could be worse. Tarantino is very strict about people sleeping on set, but he figured out long ago how to have fun with it so he wouldn't mind. And there are many accounts of this...
