It Sounds Like These Two Actors Are The Final Contenders To Play Marvel's SPIDER-MAN

It was reported earlier this week that one young actor had emerged as a frontrunner to play the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War and beyond, but now another name has emerged as being the final two in contention to play the iconic wall-crawler.

We heard earlier this week that Asa Butterfield is the frontrunner to play Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kevin Feige looks to find a young actor who can take Peter Parker back to high school (and who won't be well into their 30s by the time the character is supposed to be only college age). According to Badass Digest's Devin Faraci, he's heard that as of last week, there were two names in the mix to play the iconic superhero next year. Butterfield and Tom Holland.

There's a chance of course that neither actor will be cast or - based on that most recent report - Butterfield has already nabbed it, but these are two very interesting choices for the next Spider-Man. Butterfield is best known for movies like Ender's Game and Hugo, while Holland starred in The Impossible and will soon be seen in In the Heart of the Sea opposite Chris Hemsworth. Could Thor have put in a good word for the youngster? Share your thoughts on who's the better choice below.

I've been rooting for Tom Holland ever since his name was brought up so I'm glad to see he is still in the running. Although I have no problem with Asa Butterfield getting the job either. Both guys seem to have the qualities that Feige is looking for.

I'm going for Asa, don't think I've seen Tom Holland act but he looks good.

Butterfield for Peter
Holland for Harry

Holland was so good in The Impossible, I was very impressed
He'd make a really good Harry Osborn!

Butterfield is Peter Parker
He's so awkward and nerdy anyway but is a very good performer at the same time

Yeah, Asa. Shame but still hoping for a Evans-Hemsworth-Pratt shortlist situation.

@StreakofBlue

Hypocrites that's why. Both Asa and Ezra have received nothing but critical acclaim in their career.
Both great buys for any CBM role yet people complain. Sigh.

This is the first time i'm really annoyed by Marvel's casting. I'm not ok with this Spider-Baby thing ! Hopefully, i'm wrong and it will turn out great.

I'm really questioning whether you people want the ideal Spider-Man/Peter Parker...

Good choices. Whoever Marvel picks, I'm sure it will be the right person for the role. SO MUCH WIN IN THE MCU.

So Iron Man is 50, but Spider-Man is 14? Come on Marvel, don't mess up Spidey. These kids are way too young. We don't need a 14 year old High School freshmen Spider-Man. We need a seasoned veteran Spider-Man who has been doing it since before the Avengers.

Spider-Man should be fighting the Kingpin along with Daredevil. This young kid looks like Kingpin would eat him.

Spider baby?
You guys do realise these two are 18 YEARS OLD
And you do realise this is SET IN HIGH SCHOOL

People complained that Garfield was and looked too old to be in high school, now there's complaints these two are too young looking? What?

@InfiniteMonkey

Quite the opposite, he's starring in a Martin Scorcese film which is filming. His career won't be hurt at all :) which is good

LiaM James would've been perfect. Butterfield has never displayed any sense of humor in his roles which is important for spidey

Asa it's the best option.
