Kirsten Dunst Says That Raimi's Spider-Man Series Is Special Enough Not To Be Forgotten

While sitting down to so a recent interview Kirsten Dunst talked a little bit about the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man, also saying that what they did during her run with the franchise was special enough not to be forgotten.

Moviefone caught up with Kirsten Dunst to talk about a whole list of topics. Not surprisingly the rebooted Spier-Man movie, The Amazing Spider-Man, came up. Dunst said that she doesn't feel as if the new movie will push the ones she worked on out of peoples minds, and went on to say that the upcoming reboot will be for a new generation that will enjoy it.

From Moviefone:

What are your feelings about the Spider-Man movies being rebooted so soon? Does it feel at all like what you guys did is being erased in the sense of almost "Look at the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone now, forget about what Tobey and Kirsten had."

"Right. I don't feel that way. I feel what we did was special and I don't think that goes away. I don't think so."

Do you think there's a push to forget your movies and just pay attention to the new series?

I don't think they will. I don't feel that way. Also there's a new generation of kids that will watch these and this will be theirs. These are the people they'll identify with as Spider-Man. But I think what we did was special enough that it won't... I don't feel that way. And I do like those two, I do think they're going to be good together.

I agree with her, each of these movies that are made/remade will be near and dear for anyone who see Spidey on the big screen. For the full interview click the source link below. Check out The Amazing Spider-Man in theater on July 3, 2012!

Mary Jane got annoying real fast. So did Peter's incessant crying.

Green Lantern > Spiderman 3

Say what you will about GL but i thought it was an ok movie. Could have been so much better but there are worse movies out there.

I never want to forget about the Raimi trilogy. Those movies are my childhood and I love them. Looking forward to the reboot though.

the spider-man trilogy was very good if you ccan get by the following......

-kirsten dunst as mary jane.

-the actress who played aunt may some of her scenes were way over the top acting.

-green goblin costume not to bad but could of been better.

-cringe worthy lines of script, just like the prequel star wars trilogy makes me want to puke.

-the non action scenes of spider-man 3 all suck.

as for spider-man 2 near on perfect comic book movie.

bring on the reboot,it will be shit hot.

SM3:
birth of sandman
birth of venom
peter parker vs GG2
spider-man vs sandman - round 1 - armoured car
spider-man vs sandman - round 2 - underground
peter parker vs harry osborn
spidey + GG2 vs sandman + venom

great action sequences

vs

green lantern:
training montage
sinestro putting on fear ring

and that's it

SM3 is no B&R.

SM3:
RT: 64% (fresh)

Batman forever
RT: 44%

Batman and Robin
RT: 13% (rotten)

Superman 3
RT: 24% (rotten)

Superman 4
RT: 10% (rotten)

Green lantern
RT: 7% (rotten)

spider-man 3 was not a franchise killer and the reviews were at WORST, mixed.

i really hope they incorporate Spideys sense of humor in the new movies. That was one of my major gripes in the Raimi Trilogy. Well, that an K Dunst teeth

I agree. I feel like Raimi's Spider-man movies were a better interpretation of Spider-man than Burton's were of Batman. Even though Nolan's movie blow the others out of the water for me, I still have distinct memories of the others. So, old Spider-man>old Batman, New Batman probably > new spider-man. Since old Batman is still remembered, I think old Spider-man is pretty safe.

the new movie will have to be one of the best superhero movies ever to top SM2 because SM2 is one of the best superhero movies ever. brilliant movie.

First two Spider-Man movies were awesome, especially 2. 3 sucked ass. Completely raped Venom. Eric Foreman as Eddie Brock? Are you [frick]ing kidding me?! Reboot looks promising, but we'll see...

I thought Kirsten Dunst was hot in SM1. She just became an annoying b---h in the rest of the movies. Always nagging Peter about not going to her s--ty plays.

No, I never liked Tobey non-mask wearing, non joke telling crying every other fight spiderman. It was fuggin soap opera. Shit was terrible. I enjoyedSpectacular Spiderman more.

I hope ASM gets it right. Although I cannot in no shape or form support the suit design.

There is just no room for a supposedly "NEW Spider-man". Sam Raimi gave THE BEST on screen adaptation of Spider-man,I believe that outshines this watered down version. There shouldn't be a re-telling of the origins of The Marvel Universe, because if people need to know then get the material already released. What we NEED is CONTINUATION! We need solid storyline plots, character portrayals, a director with a vision, and last but definitely not least some great actors/actresses who can bring depth to these franchises like no one else could.

I will not forget the original movie because it is one of my favorite movies. This new movie doesn't look right to me for some reason and I highly doubt Garfield will be a crack joking Spider-Man.
Moonwalker1991

@LoganX35: I disagree. Though Tobey had his moments, I'm praising the reboot not just because Spiderman 3 fell apart. First off, Andrew Garfield looks like he stepped out of the comic book, as does Emma Stone as Parker and Gwen. Second, Tobey after a while started I guess, acting out of character. After a while the movies just felt like a soap opera with costumes and him crying like a bitch. Spiderman 1 and 2 will be cherished, but I say that it is past time to introduce a new chapter. Third, tons of fans have been waiting for the Lizard to make his debut, including myself. Fourth, no, Venom was not done right at all. Not even close. Yes, bits were taken from the Ultimate comics, but still, Eddie had no development, thus when he died it left the audience with a very blank feeling. Poorly done. Hoping this new series gets it right.
