KRAVEN THE HUNTER's Rumored Run-Time Would Make It The Longest SSU Movie Yet

A rumored run-time for the upcoming Kraven the Hunter movie is doing the rounds, and if accurate, it would make it the longest SSU film yet...

As the end of the year approaches, we only have one more major studio comic book movie to go, with Sony Pictures' Kraven the Hunter set to hit theatres on December 13.

Now, scooper Daniel Richtman is reporting that the movie will have a run-time of 1 hour, 59 minutes. If accurate, this would make Kraven the longest SSU film yet, just behind Madame Web which clocked in at 1 hour and 56 minutes.

There seems to be slightly more anticipation for this latest Spider-Man-less Spider-Man spin-off, if for no other reason than the R-rating potentially providing some visceral thrills. The first preview screenings won't take place for a few weeks yet, but for what it's worth, Richtman has heard that Kraven is "okay... better than Venom 3."

The first 8 minutes of the movie were recently screened during New York Comic-Con, and the sequence featured Kraven stalking and killing multiple foes in a prison. The violence was said to be surprisingly gruesome, and a second clip with "multiple very brutal kills" including murder by bear trap, axe, and tree stump - which reportedly splits someone straight down the middle - was also shown.

"He's an apex predator, the top of the food chain," said star Aaron Taylor-Johnson during the panel. "Kraven's a hunter, not a poacher. Like every hunter knows, sometimes you have to cull the herd to preserve order. Of course, when he starts applying that to human beings, it becomes a pretty dark story."

“It’s not just Kraven. We’ve really gotten an opportunity to dive into the Marvel characters in a really cool way,” added director J.C. Chandor. “We wanted to have the spirit of those characters be what fans want and also bring it to the screen in a new way… We’ve walked a tonal balance where myself as a storyteller and as the director, I know the actors in every performance, we’re not breaking the fourth wall. We believe in this story like it was really happening.”

"When you get in those books. It’s pretty, pretty intense," said the filmmaker of the movie's much-discussed R rating. "When the studio gave us the opportunity to see if we wanted to do this as an R[-rated] film, we were like, yes,” he said. “It was an amazing opportunity. It sort of opened up some really intense kind of Grindhouse stuff on one side, and then some also really intense character stuff.”

We're expecting a final trailer very soon, so keep an eye out.

“Kraven the Hunter is the visceral story about how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Set before his notorious vendetta with Spider-Man, Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as the titular character in the R-rated film.”

Kraven the Hunter is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel Entertainment. Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is intended to be the sixth film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU). The film was directed by J. C. Chandor and written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk.

In addition to Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title role, Ariana DeBose will play Calypso, a voodoo priestess and Kraven's on-off love interest (in the comics, at least); Fred Hechinger is Dmitri Smerdyakov, aka the Chameleon, who is Kraven's half-brother; Alessandro Nivola will play Aleksei Sytsevich, aka the Rhino, and Christopher Abbott will portray another villain known as the Foreigner.

Sony's next "SMU" movie has been rated R for "Strong bloody violence, and language."

This film looks…. bizarre. In the same way Madame Web looked bizarre. I can’t see this movie doing at all well. Like AT ALL. I thinks it’s going to absolutely TANK. Which is a shame, because I loved this character way back in the early 80’s, in the Spider-Man Christmas annual I got in 1982.

@Matchesz - Butler would have been fantastic, I always pictured Liev Schriber as Kraven but then he played Sabretooth lol

@Matchesz - Butler maybe 15 years ago, he’s too old and it would have looked even more fake than Taylor-Johnson. It was decent casting and probably more cheaper than a big name actor. Had this came out after 300, with Butler, with maybe Tobey Maguire showing up as Spidey, it would have made a lot of money.

@Timerider - idk i’d still prefer an older experienced Kraven in a spidey film instead of this Kraven begins they got going on. Kraven should be at least in his 40’s and not a 20 something year old. Butler’s 54 but he looks younger in den of thieves with hollywood magic. But you right, after 300 in a spiderman 4 with Lizard would have been it

@IAmAHoot - I honestly wouldn't mind ATJ as James Bond. He's a good actor that has done enough action roles before (although James Bond doesn't need to be action-oriented)

I know it’s not a film from Disney, but it’s a film about Exposing Disney, called, Dragged Me to Disney. It’s a film Exposing the links/Disney has to Epstein, Diddy, Justin Bieber, Weinstein, the 400,000 migrant children that went missing during the Biden administration+ there, turn a blind eye cult. more than half of the film is dedicated to The Mickey Mouse Club, mainly Diving into the lives of Corey Feldman And Britney Spears, before during an after the Disney casting couch.

It Was completed at the end of Trump’s last administration And not released due to the dangers that would follow. Not many people know about this or that it was even being filmed,, I do because I care about the children and stumbled upon it Looking for ways to get involved In saving them. I am thankful for those who have been brave enough to step up and speak on it.

SAVE THE. CHILDREN THE WORLD WILL FOLLOOW

"If accurate, this would make Kraven the longest SSU film yet, just BEHIND Madame Web which clocked in at 1 hour and 56 minutes." If it's the longest movie it can't be behind Madame Web. That aside, I do have this feeling it might be at least decent. If the plot sucks at least the action scenes seem on point.

Idc what y’all say , im going to see this because of Aaron Taylor’s abs and because it actually looks fun and kinda gritty compared to the other Sony offerings. I like that its R rated.

So I’ll be there lol

@MisterDoctor217 - As a straight man, I can admit that ATJ is very attractive and a part of the appeal to seeing this movie. I hope its entertaining at least. It sounds like they are going for a Kraven with a John Wick flavor.
