It's Morbin' Time All Over Again As MORBIUS Gets A Premiere Date On Disney+

Morbius is once being widely discussed after Madame Web's disastrous release, and you'll be able to watch it all over again on Disney+ in a matter of weeks! Find out when it hits the streamer here...

Morbius was released in theaters in March 2022, earning negative reviews from fans and critics alike. It was clear the movie underwent extensive reshoots, with the ending completely changed and the roles of certain characters vastly different than originally intended (Tyrese's FBI Agent and his robotic arm, for example, proved to be total non-factors).

The Sony Pictures movie has since become a subject of ridicule. Memes remain prevalent, with the phrase, "It's Morbin' time," becoming something of a rallying cry for those poking fun at one of the worst comic book adaptations ever made.

Morbius has called Netflix home since the end of 2022 but thanks to a deal between Disney and Sony, it will move to Disney+ starting Friday, March 1.

So, yeah, it's Morbin' time all over again!

In our review of the movie, we concluded by saying, "Jared Leto’s transformation makes for compelling viewing, but the Living Vampire can’t elevate a disappointing story that serves as a powerful, dare we say terrifying, reminder that Spider-Man is better off (and safer) in the MCU with Marvel Studios."

There's been no word on a Morbius sequel, and we don't anticipate one ever happening based on the first instalment's terrible critical and commercial performance. As for whether the Living Vampire will return in some sort of Sinister Six project, that remains to be seen, though the awkward post-credits scene featuring The Vulture which was meant to tease the spin-off received an overwhelmingly negative response.

Leto has largely remained silent when it comes to his thoughts on the Marvel movie, but Matt Smith didn't shy away from addressing its failings a few months after it arrived in theaters.

"Yeah, it was thrown under the bus," Smith said of the response to the movie. "But you just have to roll with it. What else are you gonna do? It’s a film, at the end of the day, we’re not saving lives. For whatever reason, it didn’t quite work out and...It is what it is."

The Doctor Who star isn't the only actor dissatisfied with the finished product, as co-star Al Madrigal expressed similar frustrations during an interview with us in 2022. "I got butchered in that thing. I think that’s what they did," he said. "They just really…because of COVID, they just had so much time to mess with it. They really messed with it."

Will you be watching Morbius when it hits Disney+ next month?

Wonder where they'll place this Spider-man Raimi, Spider-man Webb and the Fox-men in the MCU multiverse timeline. Will also be interesting to see if Elektra really is in Deadpool 3.

I wonder if the spumc appearing on D+ will confuse the General audience into believing the spumc is in the MCU 🤔

@AquaClunge - I mean I guess it’s technically part of the multiverse with venom appearance in Spider-Man NWH and keatons appearance in Morbius. With it being part of the multiverse it’s technically part of the MCU from a certain point of view. I mean that’s a lot of dead weight kinda gotta ask yourself is it even worth having spidey if you kinda have to add that much dead weight

@MahN166A - Animated isn't thinking big enough for Batman Beyond.

Michaal Keaton. Live action. DCU future. Massive event movie on the scale of Batman 1989. But big budget vfx future set thing. New fresh.

It's also worth considering that Batman will be public domain soon, but Batman Beyond will not be. That's something they can do that no-one else can.

Soon there will be many Batman franchises (heck there already are) but one Batman Beyond franchise would be singular and effective.

@ObserverIO -

I am right there with you in terms of how Batman Beyond should be handled. Live action is what it should be and where it should go. But WB/DC don’t exactly seem to have a good track record of personnel who are responsible for project approval. I mean fans have been asking for this for years, and yet they keep saying that “it isn’t possible” to make a Batman Beyond film. It apparently got changed to a, “Maybe” when this animated version got pitched.

But who knows what they are going to do.

Morbius was not a bad movie. Good? Great? No, but definitely average-watchable.

@GeneralZod - I didn't hate it like I did with Strange 2, BP2 and Thor.

@HashTagSwagg - Ditto. BP2 and Thor4 were outright messes. Dr. Strange 2 was serviceable, but a massive script disappointment -- Strange 2 should have been a Marvel Studios epic with Strange AND Wanda on the same side fighting it out against the dark forces of Chthon and Mephisto with The Darkhold in the middle of it all. Huge missed opportunity.
