Hours Before SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Trailer Arrives, Andrew Garfield Flat Out Denies Being In The Movie

The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield continues to insist he won't appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and while time will tell on that front, it seems he won't be part of tonight's LA event...

The new trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home will finally be released later today, and we're hoping Sony Pictures has some big surprises in store for us. Speculation continues to run rampant that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will return as their respective Peter Parker Variants, but whether this sneak peek will confirm that obviously remains to be seen.

This week, Andrew Garfield has been doing the rounds to promote his new Netflix movie Tick, Tick... Boom!, and once again flat out denied being part of the upcoming MCU threequel.

"Listen, I'm not in the film. I love Spider-Man, I always have, I was so happy to have played the part. I'm so excited to see what they do with the third one," Garfield says in the video below. "Just like you are, to be honest. That's not the diplomatic answer, I really, really mean it."

"I love Tom Holland, I love [director] Jon Watts, I love [producers] Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige, and what they've done with those movies and that character," he continued. "It's an important character to me. So I'm just really excited to see what happens in the third one, as you guys are."

There's been a lot of speculation that even if they're not in the trailer, Sony plans to bring Maguire and Garfield out in front of fans at this evening's Los Angeles premiere to blow the roof off the place. Well, don't bank of that happening, because the official Twitter account for Tick, Tick... Boom! has confirmed that Garfield will be part of a Q&A in New York City just an hour before that LA event.

A pre-recorded message is possible, of course, but it's likely to hinge on how much Sony and Marvel Studios plans to share with fans before Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in theaters next month.

I didn’t see either of the Spider-Man movies with him in them. Won’t miss him if he isn’t in the latest one. also "First", is that still a thing?

@Nunyabiz - Trust me, you should keep it that way. Those movies and he in the role were awful.

@zeon00 - Agree. Just recently watched them. I don't think he was a good Peter Parker, but he was a good Spider-Man.

@zeon00 - it's gotta be annoying as 💩 to be asked about this by the planet and, really NOT be in the fim.

@Nunyabiz - There’s plenty not to like about his movies but he was never a reason why imo

@Nunyabiz -
First is a thing if you want it to be
His movies are completely forgettable and IMHO he brought nothing to the role

It would really suck if in a spider verse movie we only have one Spider-Man.

@Urubrodi - We're so lucky that 'No Way Home' is NOT a Spider-Verse Movie

@Urubrodi - When was the last time you've seen the article where Kevin Feige or Sony actually admitted that No Way Home is a Spider-Verse Movie?

When was the last time they admitted the rumors of Andrew and Tobey will take place as part MC in the movie? When?

@SpiderKOR - The fact that the villains of the previous franchises are being brought to the MCU by the use of the multiverse already makes this a Spider-Verse story in my opinion at least. And since all these villains are gonna be there is expected that their respective Spider-Man would come along. Plus, considering the rumors, leaks and the fact that Tobey Maguire was spotted together with Zendaya in LA hours before the trailer event happens, all points in that direction. So yes, I personally would be disappointed if the others don't show up. If you rather have only Tom Holland as Spider-Man in the movie then fine, that's your opinion, but wouldn't count myself "lucky" if that happened.

@Urubrodi - I wouldn’t even call that “your opinion”. I’d call the fact that villains from different multiverses are appearing in this makes it a Spiderverse movie. Period.

He signed a contract which prohibits him from talking about his involvement with the movie.

@CAPTAINPINKEYE - Then he just broke his contract, because he's talking about his involvement with the movie....

@FortWaba - Technically speaking, saying he isn't in the movie IS talking about his involvement. He might be confirming that he's not in it, but he's still talking about it.

I was mostly being a smartass.

I think he said this same thing on the red carpet last week, pretty much word by word.
