SPIDER-MAN: Andrew Garfield Reveals Truth Behind THAT DoorDash Story And Recalls Lying To Emma Stone

The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield has told the true story behind that viral DoorDash Tweet about him supposedly being in Atlanta, while also revealing he lied to Emma Stone about a certain movie.

WARNING: SPOILERS FOLLOW!

Aside from what appeared to be a few baseless rumours, the first we heard of Andrew Garfield possibly being in Spider-Man: No Way Home came courtesy of a DoorDash driver in Atlanta. He took to Twitter to claim he'd delivered food to The Amazing Spider-Man star, and alleged Garfield had become rude and agitated after being asked for his ID (because he'd supposedly bought alcohol).

Talking to Happy Sad Confused's Josh Horowitz, Garfield finally set the record straight.

"This is my first night in Atlanta, and I'm with two of my best friends. We're out at the house that they're putting me up in, and I ordered takeout for us. COVID is high, [but] I order food. It's literally my first night there, and it's great. I get to wear a mask everywhere. I get to wear a hat. Nobody's ever going to know I'm here, and I'm going to really be low-key and whatnot."

"So the guy comes to the door, the delivery guy, [a] sweet seeming guy, nice seeming dude, and I open the door," he continued. "I've got my mask on, my hat, and I'm like, 'Thanks, man.' And he's like, 'Yo, I need to see your ID.' And I'm like 'Huh?' He's like, 'I need to see your ID.' And I'm like, 'No delivery food thing has ever asked me for my ID. This is interesting.'"

Garfield went on to explain he was also concerned about COVID and didn't want to be the one responsible for shutting down the production. He asked the delivery driver to take a few steps back and after being told he had to present his ID for ordering alcohol, he pointed out to the guy, "'No, I didn't get alcohol. I didn't get any alcohol, man. I got some tacos.'"

"Lo and behold, the guy goes, 'I just I think I just delivered food to Andrew Garfield,' and I think he called me rude, which I definitely wasn't. I did ask to do social distancing, but I obviously upset the man and I didn't mean to and I apologize for anything that may have been misconstrued as being rude. I don't like upsetting people, but it just became this whole thing. Wherever you are, I know what you were up to. You were being sneaky, and you gave me a good challenge that night."

In the same interview, Garfield talked in detail about having to keep his Spider-Man: No Way Home role a secret, including lying to his The Amazing Spider-Man co-star Emma Stone. "Emma kept on texting me. She was like, 'Are you in this new Spider-Man film?' And I was like, 'I don’t know what you’re talking about!' She was like, 'Shut up, just tell me,' And like, I honestly...I kept it going, even with her, it’s hilarious. And then she saw it and was like, 'You’re a jerk!'"

It's pretty incredible to see what lengths Garfield had to go to in order to keep his MCU debut a secret, and refreshing to hear what really happened when that DoorDash driver crossed paths with the actor. Something tells us he probably won't be ordering tacos again the next time he has to shoot a secret role in a movie, though it's crazy that the driver's viral Tweet proved to be (mostly) accurate.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now playing in theaters.

@Supercat6376 - Yeah they say they were better as friends than husband and wife. Weird, still cared for each other, still talked and spent time together. must have been at least a little weird for their second wife and husband.

@Supercat6376 - Still sounds like insecurity.

The reality is, they are both big stars who are bound to cross paths at events or possibly working together, it's just smart to be on good terms so you don't miss out on opportunities. Any reasonable spouse would understand that.

@UncleHarm1 - a lot of people are insecure and it shows. I could understand if he was asking Emma to stay the night for a sleepover but remaining friends? Yeah, sounds healthy as long as both people are being respectful of boundaries.

@TheLobster - Some people are just bad for each other. One of my best friends is an ex, she is awesome but dating her was horrible lol. I think the older you get and the more you date you start to care about more important things.
