SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Producer Amy Pascal Seemingly Walks Back New Trilogy Comments

Amy Pascal recently stated that plans were in place for a new Spider-Man trilogy starring Tom Holland, but the long-time Sony Pictures producer has now clarified/walked back her comments...

Earlier this month, producer Amy Pascal made Spidey fans very happy when she revealed that Sony Pictures intended to move forward with another trilogy featuring Tom Holland as the Webhead. This was followed by a trade report which quoted a studio insider's response that there are "no official plans for a trilogy at this phase."

It sounded like Pascal had either jumped the gun with the announcement or made an assumption about Holland's continued involvement with the franchise, but either way, she now appears to have walked back her comments.

"As long as [Holland] wants to make Spider-Man movies, we will make Spider-Man movies," she told Variety when asked to clarify her statement on the Spider-Man: No Way Home premiere red carpet. "But I'm a producer, and I always think everything's going to work out." When asked if she believes Holland will reprise the role, Pascal added: "Don't get me in trouble again. If I have my way, we will."

It's difficult to imagine Pascal even mentioning a new trilogy if there weren't at least some preliminary discussions taking place, but it sounds like the powers that be would rather see how No Way Home does at the box office before making anything official. The threequel is arguably the most highly-anticipated comic book movie since Avengers: Endgame, so we don't imagine they'll have very much to worry about in that regard.

Of course, if recent comments from Holland are any indication, there's always a chance the actor won't want to commit to being locked into this role for another 4or 5 years (at least).

The first wave of reviews for Spider-Man: No Way Home are now online, but be wary of spoilers when checking them out (Variety's, in particular).

@Waddles - It took me fifteen times of hitting the "Like" link before it worked. I am guessing this is the reason there are less comments on these pages.

She just needs to okay everything with Kevin before opening her mouth on the subject of Spider-Man.

"Don't get me in trouble again."

She's the one saying shit she shouldn't. It's not the reporter's fault.

Imagine being an executive producer saying “don’t get me in trouble” to a reporter. She’s a joke

Every time i see this lady speak in an interview i’m amazed that she’s the producer of one of the biggest franchises of all time. Not to be mean, she seems like a really good person, but you would never think she’s a high-level film executive based on the weird middle school art teacher vibes shes gives off.

I really hope they rip Spider-man out the MCU now, I'd rather see what Sony could do with him - given they have Venom, Kraven, Morbius, Madame Webb, Black Cat, Silver Sable, let alone the option to continue the Raimi/Webb series.

At least she is no longer bragging (or something like that) about how Kevin used to bring her coffee.

"don't get me in trouble" YOU made a point to say you were working on another trilogy.
Honestly I get so pissed seeing "Pascal Pictures" on these movies. We all read the emails and know she and these Sony execs don't know what they're doing. They just own the movie rights to one of the best characters in fiction and actively get in the way of its full potential. Marvel dealing with Sony isn't a contract negotiation; it's a hostage negotiation.
