Tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home went on sale yesterday, and while we had been hoping for a new trailer to mark the occasion, it sadly wasn't to be. Now, it feels a lot like Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios plan to keep the movie's biggest secrets under wraps, though only time will tell how easy that is once screenings begin over the next couple of weeks.
The biggest rumour/theory surrounding the threequel is, of course, the inclusion of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker Variants.
We still don't know if they're going to show up, but they are seemingly referenced in this new promo. It opens with Tom Holland saying that he's going to be joined by "two very special friends" before the camera pans out to reveal that he was actually talking about Zendaya and Jacob Batalon.
His Spider-Man: No Way Home co-stars point out that it "makes sense" for them to be there before Holland cheekily asks, "Of course. I mean, who else would it be?"
So, yeah, they're definitely having fun with us at this point!
This doesn't mean Maguire and Garfield will appear in the movie, but it continues to be hard to believe that they won't show up. It's interesting that they haven't been featured in any marketing materials and we can't help but wonder whether Sony plans to let word spread after upcoming press/fan screenings as they did with Venom: Let There Be Carnage's post-credits scene.
Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. on December 17 and in the UK on December 15.
