Kirsten Dunst last played Mary Jane Watson in 2007's Spider-Man 3. A lot of time has passed, and two actresses have since been cast as that character (Shailene Woodley in scenes ultimately cut from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Zendaya in the MCU), but many fans would love to see what the original big-screen iteration of MJ is up to all these years later.
Whether we'll see her in Spider-Man: No Way Home remains to be seen, though it would make sense to learn what's been happening in the life of Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker since we last saw him...assuming the actor shows up in the threequel, of course!
Despite recently denying rumours that she has a role in the movie, Dunst expressed a little more excitement for a possible return during a recent interview with Variety. "I would do it. Why not? That would be fun," the actress admitted. "I would never say no to something like that."
Joking about where we'd find Mary Jane at this point in her life, Dunst added: "I’d be old MJ at this point with little Spidey babies."
Peter and MJ did get their happy ending in the final few moments of Spider-Man 3 while sharing a dance, but we know the wall-crawler's life has often been hit with unexpected tragedies. Hopefully, this Variant does have a family life with Mary Jane and a glimpse of that will be shown in No Way Home.
We'll find out when the movie arrives in theaters on December 17!
