Peter Parker No More? SPIDER-MAN 4 Rumored To Feature Wall-Crawler Focusing On His Superhero Identity

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, the world forgot who Peter Parker is. Now, a new rumour suggests the wall-crawler will put the man under the mask to one side to focus on his superhero persona in Spider-Man 4.

Spider-Man: Far From Home ended with Mysterio revealing the hero's secret identity to the world, with the fallout taking centre stage in Spider-Man: No Way Home

The web-slinger turned to Doctor Strange for help, only for the spell meant to make everyone forget Quentin Beck's actions to go wrong and tear open the Multiverse. After teaming up with his fellow Spider-Men, the teenager had no other choice than to get the sorcerer to cast a new spell which would make everyone - including his friends and family - forget Peter Parker ever existed.

The world still has Spider-Man, but MJ, Ned, and even his fellow Avengers have no recollection of the man beneath the mask.

According to The Cosmic Circus, that will be a pivotal plot point in the upcoming Spider-Man 4

"The idea now moving forward is to give him a sense of independence," the site explains. "In his mind, Peter Parker is no more...but Spider-Man lives on."

"Since he has either lost or detached himself from everyone he’s ever loved, all he has to keep him going is being Spider-Man, whether the city loves him for it or not. And as the title of Spider-Man continues to consume Peter’s life little by little, Peter Parker will take a back seat and continue to fade from existence slowly. This story point can be compared to Robert Pattinson’s Batman in The Batman."

That sounds like a fascinating direction to take Spidey in and will no doubt play into the people Peter cares about eventually remembering who he is...well, we hope so, anyway.

There are lots of rumours surrounding Spider-Man 4, including plans for the hero to team up with Daredevil (and potentially Ant-Man) for a battle with The Kingpin. Sony Pictures is said to be pushing for a Multiversal element to the story, so we may well end up seeing Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield enter the fray as well.

Miles Morales is also expected to make his MCU debut, while Drew Goddard has emerged as the frontrunner to direct the movie in place of Jon Watts.

Last year, Holland shared his thoughts on potentially sharing the screen with Miles. "I would be honored to bring Miles Morales into the live action world," the actor enthused. "How we do that, I don't know, but given the opportunity, I would jump at it."

While there's currently a great deal of uncertainty surrounding Spider-Man's MCU future, a fourth solo outing is happening and the web-slinger is still expected to be a lead character in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Spider-Man 4 is currently expected to be released in theaters in 2025 or, more likely, 2026.

Bro needs that black suit by yesterday.

@Doomsday8888 -

Question: How do you introdce the black suit prior to SW? Sure, with F4 coming up you got Reed ready to help him get rid of it, but how do you establish it prior? And I'm not giving any weight to that NWH post-credits scene with Eddie's pointless tease.

Well...we DO have a piece of Venom in the MCU, even if it's in a shitty ass way, what can i say, lol. :P

@DrReedRichards - "I'm not giving any weight to that NWH post-credits scene with Eddie's pointless tease."

It's not really an eddie tease though. Venom went back to his universe, but a piece of the symbiote stayed. You literally have a way to get the black suit on peter, and have it be a direct result of peter's multiversal shenanigans

@DrReedRichards - think they should wait with the black suit. Think Secret Wars is a good place to introduce it, as it most likely happens between 4 and 5:

Spider-Man 4: Spidey without any suit gimmicks fighting Kingpin, possibly with Daredevil's help
Secret Wars:Spidey comes into contact with the symbiote and spends time with it.
Spider-Man 5: Spidey has grown too accustomed to the suit (i.e. doesn't pull punches anymore) and decides to ditch it, leading into the Venom saga for acts 2 and 3

@SATW42 -

I get what you're saying, and yeah that is a direct method, but let's not forget that Carnage ended with Venom being stranded in the MCU only to lead to nothing. That's why I'm giving it no weight. Not because it's not applicable, but because we've had that same character teased before with no actual result.

@bkmeijer1 -

That's a good structure, but with SW being rumored to reboot everything, I don't think they have the time for such a lengthy narrative, fitting as it may be.

@DrReedRichards - I get the hesitation, but I think the fact that it was a Marvel stinger gives it more weight than the carnage one, which was a Sony stinger.

I know it's "you got peanut butter in my chocolate, you got chocolate in my peanut butter" situation, but the fact that Marvel actually put it into one of their movies gives me at least a little bit of hope it actually gets used and at least it follows a bit of continuity.

@DrReedRichards - I doubt it's gonna reboot everything. There are too many characters, like Spider-Man, with ongoing narratives. Could see them introduce new versions of Tony Stark, Steve Rogers and T'Challa though

@DrReedRichards - this is really easy, there already a piece of venom in the mcu. Or just go with the meteor idea. There a lot of ways to do this that are pretty easy.

@DrReedRichards - thought it was a soft reboot? I doubt they reboot everything with SW.

@bkmeijer1 - yeah I think a lot of people are getting their hopes up for a full reboot. There no way that’s the case. It will be a soft reboot at most.

bkmeijer1 - 3/25/2024, 12:34 PM
@Taonrey - yeah, I really don't think they're gonna throw out years of continuity. There could be a new Sacred Timeline, but no way it's a completely new one

I hope no one ever remembers who Peter was, that'd be incredibly cheap. That way he gets to forge his new identity moving forward. His old friends have forgotten him and he's moved on, I want to meet his new friends, not a Jacob Batalon cameo.
Urubrodi
Urubrodi - 3/25/2024, 7:03 AM
@OrgasmicPotatoe - Agreed, if someone from his past like MJ remembers him and is the one to remind him how important Peter Parker is, it’d be cheap. It needs to be a new person like Harry or Gwen to do that. And maybe have Black Cat trying to keep his focus on Spider Man.
HashTagSwagg
HashTagSwagg - 3/25/2024, 7:38 AM
@OrgasmicPotatoe - I don't think they'll have the balls to stick with no way home ending. They'll bring back Ned and Zendaya after the first act and then they team up and save the day by the 3rd act.

@TheVisionary25 -

So the ending that everyone likes is a Feige idea? Color me not the least bit shocked or surprised, lol.

In all seriousness though, I can't in good faith pretend that this whole trilogy has been the character's origin story, like many rushed to testify. There's a bunch of layers of coping in that statement that I'd rather not get into here, but let's just say I'm almost fuming when someone says that.
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 3/25/2024, 8:36 AM
@DrReedRichards - fair enough

I do think it has been an extended origin story though

Maybe that wasn’t the intention at the beginning but that’s just how it turned out imo.

DrReedRichards - 3/25/2024, 8:46 AM
@TheVisionary25 -

"Maybe that wasn’t the intention at the beginning..."

There's no "maybe", bro. This was a clearly haphazard attempt to salvage the mess that appeared after the Disney/Sony divorce back in 2019.

Lest we forget Avi's narcissism at the end of NWH credits, or Amy's sandwich throwing shenanigans...
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 3/25/2024, 8:52 AM
@DrReedRichards - I still remember Feige saying that Peter’s journey will be longer then others in the MCU so that makes me think it was somewhat still there at the beginning atleast but I get ya.

@DrReedRichards - when a problem comes along, it's definitely because of Avi lol. Then again most of the Sony movie division is a travesty, this has been a running joke for almost twenty years haha. They should stick to making consoles and tv's ^_^

Consoles, yeah. Just closer to their gem PSP than another overexpensive and unhackable (until too late) PSVita. TVs, I'm more of an LG guy myself.

Urubrodi

@Scarilian - ...that has been explored in every single movie thus far. Why not try something new where he gets reminded during the movie about the importance that Peter Parker has. Plus, it would be the natural course of the story after the ending of No Way Home. No one knows who he is.

Just watch Sony mess with Miles.

They want Miles for their own universe.
Urubrodi
Urubrodi - 3/25/2024, 10:03 AM
@MadThanos - I don't think that's possible, I think they are not able to have a live action Spider-Man in their own movies outside of the MCU due to their deal with Disney, hence why they keep making spinoffs without Spider-Man in them. But they won't officially say that cause the possibility of seeing Spider-Man gets some people to the theaters (not as much anymore it seems). I'm just guessing btw but it feels the only logical explanation why they don't just use another Spider-Man in their movies to get more audience and only had other Spider-Men show up in No Way Home.

MadThanos - 3/25/2024, 10:03 AM
