SPIDER-MAN 3's Unused Black Suit And Venom Practical Costumes Are Much More Comic Accurate

Some resurfaced behind the scenes images from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 revealed practical black suits for both Peter Parker and Eddie Brock which were way more comic accurate than what ended up on screen.

Spider-Man 3 was released to mostly negative reviews back in 2007 and ended Sam Raimi's otherwise amazing trilogy with more of a whimper than a bang. Plans for Spider-Man 4 fell through shortly after, of course, and the web-slinger has since been rebooted not once, but twice. As for Venom, he has his own film franchise starring Tom Hardy.

Over the past day, some Tweets from 2018 showing behind the scenes images from Spider-Man 3's pre-production have resurfaced and gone viral and, as you can see, both Peter Parker's black suit and Venom himself were once going to be far more comic accurate than what ended up on screen.

Venom looks like he's been torn straight from the pages of his comic book adventures, while Spidey's black suit is a perfect replica. Ultimately, Raimi went with a black version of the red and blue costume, a look which mostly received a positive response from fans due to it actually looking pretty great in motion. As for Venom, his appearance in the 2018 movie was quite a bit more memorable.

Would have been a shame if something as compromised as Spider-Man 3 was Raimi's last tenure in a genre that he helped to define

@tmp3 - too bad he didn't get to do Spiderman 4. Seems like the recycled a lot of his ideas for Spiderman Homecoming

Here's hoping in a few years the symbiotes are rebooted in the MCU.

3 is still the worst of the trilogy but when the first two are near-perfect, it softens the blow and I think it's still grown on me over time. The entire trilogy has aged like fine wine and is better than a LOT of comic book movies that have come out in the last decade.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - not trying to be a stick in the mud but last time around I watched it and was let down by dude, I remembered him being terrible in part 3 so no surprise there, but 1&2 were worse then I remembered.

Not knockin ya! Glad you still enjoy it and enjoy more

@TheWalkingCuban - Blasphemy!

To each their own. I get where you're coming from. I think I've gotten desensitized to the way the comic book movies are handled/shot nowadays and every now and then it's refreshing to go back and watch those that emphasized character drama and taking things slower than the universe-focused movies we're used to by now.

Was watching some of the Spider-Man 3 final fight and honestly the CGI doesn't hold up. Looks ridiculous in places

For instance, I took this screencap, what even is this monstrosity:

@Nightwing1015 - I think this fight as a whole is cool, but a lot of the CG (especially the green-screen in the alley) is almost comically bad.
