With $148M over its first 3 days of release, and $59M on its first day of release alone, SPIDER-MAN 3 managed to smash the second PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movie's respective records of $135M and $55M and start the summer of 2007 movie season off with a bang! Despite so-so reviews on the film the movie not only managed to break all sorts of records, but it also seemed to take away from every single other movie out there, with the #2 movie, DISTURBIA, managing only about $6M. In fact, the week's other release, LUCKY YOU, only managed about $2.5M and a 6th place opening. Guess the poker craze is pretty much done -- or people are just sick of Drew Barrymore's super-happiness.

SPIDER-MAN 3 has already taken in over $225M overseas since its release on Tuesday, which means that the film has already made close to $375M overall since it release. And you thought its budget of $258M was a lot?
