We were first introduced to Yuri Lowenthal's Peter Parker when Spider-Man was released to widespread critical acclaim in 2018. Since then, it's fair to say his performance has become iconic, and Sony Pictures acknowledged his version of the wall-crawler with an Easter Egg in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (his costume with the white emblem was spotted in Earth-TRN700's Peter's base).
The sequel to that animated Oscar-winner is bound to include more versions of Spider-Man, with the hope being that the video game Spidey - who was introduced to the Multiverse in the Spider-Geddon comic book event - could appear. Failing that, he could quite easily show up in Spider-Man 3 this year!
We had to ask Yuri about the possibility that might happen (check back here tomorrow for the full interview), and as you might expect, he's open to anything that would allow him to play Spidey again.
"Oh, in a heartbeat," the prolific actor said when we asked if he'd return for either one of these projects. "I would love to explore the role in any other world. I was such a huge fan of Into the Spider-Verse, and it was nice they gave a little tip of the hat to our Earth 1048 Spider-Man."
"We were all extremely honoured and freaked out when we saw it," Yuri continued before admitting that he's yet to hear anything about possibly playing Spider-Man on the big screen. "I have not been approached for that, but I certainly hope they do. I love the new Spider-Man films too. Basically, I am open to any Spider-Man going from here on out [Laughs]."
When we spoke to Uncharted star Nolan North last year, he revealed that he hadn't been contacted by Sony Pictures in any way. Since then, he's visited the movie's set, so we can now only hope that the studio spots this and gives Lowenthal's Spidey the chance to shine on the biggest screen possible!
We'll have much more from Yuri for you soon (the full interview will hit the site tomorrow), but you can find him on Twitter @YuriLowenthal, Instagram @yurilowenthal, and his Cameo (where you can get personalised messages from the actor and the characters he's played), by clicking HERE.
