Set in the not too distant future, Doug Liman's Chaos Walking picks up with Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland) when he discovers Viola (Daisy Ridley), a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet, where all the women have disappeared and the men are afflicted by "the Noise" – a force that puts all their thoughts on display. In this dangerous landscape, Viola’s life is threatened – and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet’s dark secrets.
Ahead of the movie's release in the UK (it will be available for premium rental at home on all digital platforms from April 2nd), we caught up with Ridley to discuss working on the project. Shortly before our conversation, the internet had blown up with reports that she might be Sony's top pick to play Jessica Drew in Spider-Woman, but just how interested would the Star Wars lead be in that role?
Daisy talked to us about that and the possibility of one day joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"Well, it's funny because someone asked me off the cuff about the Spider-Woman rumours recently, and I went, 'Oh, that sounds great.' Apparently, I've now declared myself a frontrunner to be Spider-Woman which isn't true!" she confirmed. "It's funny because I don't really choose things...I [didn't] set out to do another 'big film.' I just read the [Chaos Walking] script, loved it, and loved the idea of it."
"Basically, should something come along and be great, of course I'd be open to anything. I just finished WandaVision. What they did with it is so amazing and different and interesting. To be particularly in that world, which is ever shifting and reimagining itself would be very exciting."
There are lots of characters Ridley could play in the MCU, and we know Kevin Feige is a huge fan of Star Wars, so she has to be someone who is on his radar for a prominent role in that world.
