Practically anyone else is better than Ivan Raimi for a movie like this. Really, one can only go up from Spider-Man 3. It would take real effort to sink any further.

I'm sort of hoping they do a large time gap between the events that took place in SM3 and where they begin in SM4. Have him out of college, full-time Spider-Man/Bugle photographer and bring back his smack talking. Y'know, grown up.

Who agrees that they need to mature Toby's image and get away from the nerdy school boy look, it was fine up until Spidey 2, but his look in 3 was just embarrassing. In interviews he's got the short hair and 5 o'clock shadow. Why not go with that, its what Parker looks like in the comics. A tired, scruffy young man.
The guy is in his thirtys, the character is in his mid twentys. Making him look 15 isnt neccessary.

I don't think they need to get more realistic with Spider-man, because the first one was all about the real connections we have with our family members. They should ramp up the Sci Fi aspect and make a Monster movie! Do a Jekyll and Hyde/mad scientist thing with the Lizard. As for Peter's image, they could have him doing his graduate studies and working as a teacher's assistant to the Lizard. Parker eventually confides in his Teacher who helps him develop a serum/antedote to get rid of his super-spider infection. Teacher does not trust in Peter though and secretly develops another formula to create the reverse effect, hoping to harness the more primal instincts and regenerative powers of different animal life. It eventually gets out of control and turns Teacher into the Lizard and Spidey more into a spider, growing extra limbs like in the comicbook. Man-Spider versus Lizard might be pretty cool. That might be interesting.

Am I the only one here just begging for a Maximum Carnage movie? come on! Carnage is by far the best spidey villian! and having venom forced to side with spidey to take him out? the story is unscrewupable! but Im sure Raimi will find a way...

I only remember the name. Maximum Carnage was . . . meh. Carnage himself is pwerful and as psychotic as Joker, but is indifferent to even Peter. There's nothing personal with them even after how many confrontations. With Venom it's beyond personal. It's intimate at a very dangerous level. The most personal villains are always the best. Ones who have a reason to be in conflict with not just anybody. With the hero himself. Chameleon would be great. You plug Chameleon into a story and it instantly becomes a depthy look at Identity crisis. "Who am I? I'm Spider-Man. I think. Wait. Maybe . . ." Mysterio also managed to very nearly convince Peter that he had gone completely insane. "Am I a hero? Was it ever real? What have I become?" And Lizard reflects the beast, the raw nature of primal instinct overtaking someone. And Peter fights that same instinct as well. Spiders are, after all, predators. If you want to look closely enough at an identity crisis, The Other story arc revealed a secondary concious deep with Peter, that of the Spider itself. The beast in him he pretended to embrace, but never looked to closely at for fear of what he had really become. Embracing both sides of him, man and spider, means becoming whole in his being for him. I like to think that the real reason Peter was able to resist the black symbiote when other stood not a chance was that the symbiote had not one moral concious mind to control but two, that backed each other up making it harder for the symbiote to establish absolute control.

Spiderman 1 was good. Spiderman 2 is technically suppose to be better...but its replay is crap. I cant watch 2 as much as I can one. Maybe because the creation of "The Spiderman" is just more appealing.

While on the other hand details like...."maybe spiderman CAN NOT punch Doc OCT EVER...didnt occur to Sam Raimi...I mean doesnt he know that spiderman could crush a human face with a single swing? uahaha.
Which is why in the comics...Doc Octs tentacles never let spiderman hit doc oct in the face...and if spiderman did hit his face....his fist would roll. But then again I think I'm over analyzing this.

I just hope they take Kristen Dunst off the project. She is NO MARRY JANE. She sure aint aging well either to be mary jane....uh yeah. I give Raimi Cudos for the selection of Gwen stacy. Pure genius.

But spiderman 3 did suck. Lets just hope Doctor CONNERS can save the movie. :)

Mary Jane was a slut in pt3. First being with Peter, being jealous of Spidey, and kissing Harry? Kill Mary Jane, have Gwen be there for Peter, Dr. Connors becomes the Lizard, and by film's end introduce Mysterio.
and remember... Goblin's not truly dead!

I shudder every time I hear Chameleon in a SM movie, lol. After what they did to Venom, no i don't wanna see a Maximum Carnage story or Carnage in any form. I was that fanboy in the audience at the SM3 premier that got thrown out of the theatre when they killed Venom for... disturbing the peace, inciting a riot, something... anyway I don't want to relive that moment. The Lizard+Kraven! If not that then just the Lizard. Black Cat would be a nice insert. Felicia Hardy would be a nice destraction from boring ol'e whiny MJ (good way do ditch Kirsten Dunce... er, Dunst too lol). But Definitely make it a Lizard story. And Guarantee Fox never lets go of Kingpin for a Spidey movie. Mysterio may not be bad idea either. What about Electro? Shocker Couldn't fill out a whole movie as a villain, can't use him for same reason u can't use Electro, Rhino, Kraven, Chameleon, Scorpion, and plenty other as a solo villain. They aren't deep enough characters. Either that or they aren't smart enough. Lizard, Mysterio, and Carnage are the only Spider Villains left that could pull off a Solo. Although the Kingpin idea with Chameleon wouldn't be bad. Add a few knuckleheads like Hammerhead or Tombstone to the mix, definitely add Black Cat... thats a decent Spidey flic. Still wanna see the Lizard story more than anything though.
