J.K. Simmons Talks Possibly Returning As J. Jonah Jameson In THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

Fans have wanted to see Simmons play the Daily Bugle's J. Jonah Jameson again in The Amazing Spider-Man universe ever since his brilliant portrayal of the character in Sam Raimi's trilogy.

I think we can all agree that J.K. Simmons as Daily Bugle boss J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy is easily one of the greatest castings in comic book movie history. Even after the franchise was given the reboot treatment, there was still a desire to see Simmons play the character yet again in this new universe. The actor expressed interest in the idea a while back, but in an interview with MTV Geek, the subject comes up again. Unsurprisingly, Simmons (who also voices the character on Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man) isn't sure if he will reprise the J. Jonah Jameson role, despite The Amazing Spider-Man universe apparently not having an actor to play the character yet.

"There's always talk," Simmons says. "I'm doing it in animation land [on 'Ultimate Spider-Man'], but Sam Raimi's take on the world of Spider-Man has run its course. We were all excited and ramping up for 'Spider-Man 4' a few years ago, but for a variety of ridiculous showbiz reasons it ended up not happening. The reboot is a very different universe. Both versions are legitimate, and this one doesn't have a J. Jonah Jameson so far. As far as I know, I won't be putting on the flat-top again."

A Daily Bugle presence in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been confirmed, but it's unknown whether or not Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) will begin working there in the first sequel. Would you like to see J.K. Simmons return as J. Jonah Jameson, or is it better to bring in a new actor?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper and Sally Field. The film is set to hit theaters May 2nd, 2014.

Why not, I hated the reboot but would love to see Simmons back in the role. If Judi Dench returned, why can't he?

Well I feel like they would go with a more toned down, pissed off version like USM. He was very serious in them.

I feel like John Slattery would make a good JJJ, if it's influenced by Ult. Maybe even Stephen Lang.

It'll be distracting to see him randomly inserted since he was in the Raimi films... wait, what I meant to say was, it'll be distracting for 5 seconds and then nobody will care because he's so freaking awesome.

I didn't exactly LOVE the TAS but thought it was a good enough start for the new franchise.

I would definitely want to see him return. It would be not unlike Judi Dench playing M in two different Bond franchises.

I'd only suggest taking the campiness of the character down a notch and playing him in a more naturalistic style. Still for laughs, but less of a caricature.

As much as i enjoyed Sam Raimis Spiderman movies(1 & 2) most of the casting was pretty bad like Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane?? but they completely nailed it with JK as Jameson.

Maybe its just me but it seems that this character got way to much screen time in the Raimi trilogy. And every scene he was in was comedic. I don't think CBM's need that much comedy.

I might actually pay full price to see it this time around with him in it. Sorry, I'm just not a fan of Garfield as Spidey. That and they should've kept Dylan Baker as Dr. Connors for the first film at least. He was a much better actor... Yes yes, it's a reboot...yadda yadda yadda.

I guess I'm still pissed Sony even did a reboot this soon. We were sooo close to getting into some good Spidey characters too. Maybe someday we will get to see Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, and Black Cat...

It's ridiculous to not include JK!

There is precedence here people: How many times and in how many vastly different iterations has Tim Daly played Batman?

From cartoons, animated movies, video games and even a 9/11 cafeteria line he's played Batman. He did Batman for the Nolan-verse movies. The Arkham video games and more. JK Simmons can do the same. Make it happen Sony; don't be a yutz.

He's the only one i would accept this for. but they would have to change up his look a little bit. obviously Webb's version is a bit more realistic than Raimi's.

This was pretty good casting for J. Jonah, it's a pity his Spider-man movies weren't too good.

Don't think they should use hm again tho, he's not the only one cable of playing J. Jonah.
